Case Ready to be scheduled for interview and RFE

Hello there. I have been a silent observer for a while but thought I would join in to get more knowledge.

I have one question. Can one receive RFE or RFIE if status is ?case is ready to be scheduled for interview?. We filed in Feb but sent in 2016 taxes because my asked for extention to file 2017(We will be filing jointly next month for the first time). I?m worried they might request 2017 and that could stop the process.

What is likely to happen is that when you're scheduled for your interview, you will be asked to bring in the relevant tax information from 2017. Some people get interview dates and their letter tells them "to bring a completed I-864 with tax return and W2s or certified IRS transcripts (unless already submitted)", so for you, you haven't already submitted them to USCIS for 2017, so you'd be expected to present them at interview.

My question is that, i was issued an RFE in a yellow paper to request for more information on Affidavit for support because i only sent in my wife's 2017 tax return only. So i responded and gave them everything from the last 2years and they confirmed and updated my online status to case received.
The confusing part now is that i received another letter asking for the same documents but this time my wife's birth certificated is included as part of what they needed, the most confusing part is that i received this letter October 28th 2018 and my status changed October 30 2018 to "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". Now i'm confused, i don't know what to do even after this i called them and they assured my case is in progress and everything is in order but telling me i can send in a letter saying i already sent what they needed. Please what should i do?
