So after waiting more than 6 months, we received an RFIE for the petitioner/sponsor on form I-864 most recent tax return (2017). The thing is both my spouse and sponsor filled out the I-864. Should I send both tax returns and just specify one is the petitioner and the other is the sponsor?I'm quite anxious just to send our sponsor's tax return only to be requested for my spouse's tax return. I'm really not sure what to do. Help.

Just send both of their 864 and tax returns to be on the safe side. That?s what I would do.

When they say complete federal income tax return does what does it include? Is it everything in the tax return folder? Thanks for the reply.

Full tax returns for both, including W2s relating to them and/or certified IRS transcripts, you can order those on the IRS website to receive either online or through the mail. Generally, if you provide transcripts you don't need the W2s but doesn't hurt to send them anyway. And also good idea to send pay stubs too.Marriage AOS - 2018

Thank you for all your replies. We requested for tax transcripts from the IRS which would be in the mail in about 5-10 days. But we will also send the tax return copies with it. Is a cover letter needed to just specify what's inside? I heard USCIS often loses paperwork.

Save the officer having to look through everything trying to find things, put it in an specific order and note that on your cover letter/table of contents. The less work the officer has to do the better, I am sure they will appreciate that.

UGH, I am afraid that we will get RFE'd as well on the I-864. We submitted four months ago, and I was hoping they wouldn't wait so damn long to send those out.
I'd just send everything with a cover letter. No reason not to.
