  • Looking for help with joint sponsor: Refiling i-485

I filled in all my applications for change of status August 2017 from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I did the biometric a month later. Received request for innitial evidence twice from the USCIS (about
Sponsor's documents) for the fact that my wife has 5 dependant children so she could not be the
    single sponsor for my case.

Finally, after months of waiting, i received a notice of denial of I-485 last week. initially i did the filling
myself but after the denial i decided to employ the service of a Lawyer who advised that we resubmit the i-485.

we filled the applications and got my wife's updated (2017) tax document but still need a joint sponsor to help fill the affidavit of support.

I dont know anyone here aside my wife who has no any family member able enough to
    support me.

We have been looking for someone to help me be the joint sponsor and decided to come here,
you never know, God may use you to help us.

Any information or advise on this regard is highly welcome please.

Do you go to any church and ask a church member that you know? It is very hard for a stranger to agree to become a joint sponsor as it can be a huge responsibility. I hope you find someone that can help..

Your situation is unfortunate, I do hope you manage to find someone who is willing to be your sponsor. The trouble is, people that don't know you well may be hesitant because of the fact this is a contract signed with the US government. For example, say that you fall on hard times in the future and your financial sponsor refuses to help you because at the end of the day, they don't know you that well. Technically you can sue them for failing to adhere to their contract and you would usually win that case, because they've signed a legal and binding contract with the US government.

So although for friends and family this financial sponsor thing may not be a big deal, to those you don't know very well, it will be.

I too have to echo the sentiments posted. Given the gravity of the commitment, potentially 10 years, I doubt anyone here would be in a position to help you. I also suspect USCIS would also have thier concerns about your petition if you were being sponsored by an individual for whom you had no relationship with. My attorney told me that the I-864 recieves particularly close attention from USCIS as they want to ensure that immigrants do not become a burden on the Federal Government. Thus, it recieves significant scrutiny.

To meet the requirement, you may have to pool assets (bank balance, car, house etc). Otherwise, you will likely have to leave the U.S. and return when you are in a financial position to
