I-485 Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed

Hi everyone,

Married a US citizen and filing to NBC.

23/02: USCIS accepted case
27/03: Bio-metric completed

After waiting approx.5 months, I received a status on 07/06 that Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed and I still received nothing yet. The long waiting time frame with single income, unknown of what evidence needed to provide just depressed me financially, emotional and physically. Has anyone encounter request of evidence before? I sincerely hope that it will not delay my EAD cambo process for too long since I sincerely want to work soon.

You should check your status in the web site:

Both are official USCIS case status web site, I use both for more accurate information.

The bad news is the RFE freeze all the documents till you send the documents and they processes it.
If you are struggling you can call them and ask for expedite process, but you have to show evidence of that and match it with the initial income that you sent.

This process can be long, but some people have luck and got everything in 5 months. This forum help me a lot with my anxiety and help me to learn the next steps.

03/30/2017 Info pass (telling that the I765 is taking 5 months not 3)
04/04/2018 email telling that they going to take an action in 60 days (nothing happen after those 60 days)
05/17/2018 RFE form I-485 (requesting tax returns 2017)
06/18/2018 I-693 courtesy letter
06/20/2018 Email "Case is ready to be scheduled for interview"
06/28/2018 Infopass (2nd security check up previews EAD approval)

It is so strange....usually initial evidence is like birth certificate, marriage certificate or I864 tax return ...

I've been made to understand that RFIE starts over the case whilst RFE freezes. But having a RFIE after 5 months is insane!
