  • Is SSN required for the interview?

    Hi,

My USC spouse lost his SSN original card. But he remembers his number.

Is SSN card required during the interview? Thanks for helping.

It's possible they may ask to see the physical SSN card, but not likely. They'd have access to your SS profile so they'd put in the number and find the details. If the SS information didn't match the person on the application, you wouldn't have gotten to interview. So generally they're just going to check ID documents and if they match who the SSN is registered it will be fine. But I guess it may depend on each officer's way of working. They certainly have the right to ask to see it.

They didn't ask to see my wife's SSN card when we had the interview, the officer just checked our identifications.

On the interview letter they gave a list of items on what to carry. SSN card isn't one of them so NO. I highly doubt they will ask for that.

I wasn?t asked to show it. Same my husband... I?d say no but this doesn?t mean that your IO won?t ask you.
