  • U.S. Postal Service could not Deliver - Multiple Time

    Hello All,

My 485 was approved and received Green Card, the Card and notice was delivered to my Attorney address. I never received the 485 approved notice.

The message "U.S. Postal Service could not Deliver" shows on my Receipt number, I updated my address and opened request to send notice, they send me a duplicate copy of the 485 approved notice. But keep on updating status "U.S. Postal Service could not Deliver" with new date. This has happened many times. not sure what i should do, any advise is appreciated. I called and confirmed USCIS has the current address for my attorney and also my residence address.

The second time USCIS worked / updated the service Request and i did not receive my mail, i opened request with USPS and had discussion with USPS customer service who told me that there is no tracking number, they will not be able to trace it, there is no way they can locate returned mail just on name.

those should have some sort of tracking number. I would call USCIS and ask them for the tracking number so you can USPS and figure out where your mail is.

I called and spoke to USCIS and besides opening a new request they cannot tell me anything else, my understanding is in case of Card they have tracking number not in case of notice, none of the notice i received had tracking number, even the duplicate copy of the 485 approval notice did not have tracking number.

wait so per your original post, do you already have your green card? and you're just waiting for notice of approval?

I would say if you have your GC already, don't worry about the approval notice! The notices usually come before the GC, but I'd say having the GC in hand is a pretty concrete approval notice.

Someone recommended in another post to sign up for informed delivery on USPS website, which I highly recommend. It is a free service and they will tell you how many mails you are about to receive. The best part is they take pictures of the front of the envelopes so you can see who the sender is!

Ok. Thank you for all your replies. Spoke to USCIS again and they said same. They cannot do anything about the status it is always going to show "Not Delivered".
