July 2018 AOS Filers

July Filer's are receiving EAD/AP combo card, is there any update on Interview for Family based submission?

Interviews are getting scheduled for San Bernardino office (both FB and EB). This is one of the fast offices though. USCIS processing times for the I485 will provide an indication of the expected timeline towards am interview.

Had my AOS interview yesterday in the Los Angeles Field Office. No on-the-spot decision though, gave me a paper "Held for further review...". Lawyer said not to worry. Now it's the final waiting game for the approval notice.

Dec 10th, 2018 - Notice, interview was scheduled
Jan 14th 2019 - Attended AOS Interview in Los Angeles (Held for further review)

The interview itself was pretty chill. After handing over my identification documents, she started off with very basic question like my name, birth date, address, parents names etc. Right after that she continued to the typical YES/NO questions.

After those, she asked for my 2017 tax returns, the employment offer letter and my interview notice letter. The officer was in a good mood and even joked a bit about how the computers at USCIS are slow and that they could use better software to make the whole process easier.

Some more exchanges were made of documents proving my birth name through certificate, gender change and name change (I'm transgender). She never asked any deeper questions about the job or my history.

At the end she handed me a white paper with the interview results. With the "further review" ticked.

EAD approved

I received email/ text at 4AM that my EAD card is being produced. It took 183 days since filing date. Super excited.

Good news! I got a status update today on my I-485! Card has been picked up by USPS. Interestingly, the system sent me both the card production and card picked up notification in a span of 10 seconds.

Congrats! My timeline is almost the same as your?s but I?m afraid that?s where the similarity stops as my FO is the slowest in the country....
