"EAD & AP Approved"- State Identification Card Question

First of all thank you so much to all who helped me with their guidance and sharing their knowledge in this process.

Yesterday My Wife received her " EAD- Combo Card' In Hand.

Timeline :

01/22/18- PD- Concurrent Filling- I-485,I-765,I-131,1-130
01/30/18- NoAs through SMS & Email (Day 9)
01/30/18- Check Cashed
02/19/18- Biometrics done (Day 30)
02/25/18- RFE received -Requesting For 2017 Tax year documents such as W-2s, 1099
03/08/18- RFE response received by USCIS (Day 46)
05/09/18- SR requested for I-765 (Day 108)
05/11/18- SR response Received stating " Case is in Normal Processing time"
06/22/18- Requested To expedite AP Application for Emergency Travel (Day 152)
07/02/18- Letter received for supporting documents send through FAX
07/02/18- 07/13/18- Failed Fax attempts (~320 times) keep getting " Busy/No Response Tone"
07/09/18- Info pass Appointment
07/10/18- Mailed Supporting Documents to NBC for expedite request
07/14/18- Email received for I-765 " We are producing for card and We will mail it you" But No update for AP ( DAY- 175)
07/16/18- Infopass appointment to check AP status & to request Emergency AP till we receive Original because travel date was 07/16/18 ;
07/17/28- Mailed Combo card from NBC To Applicant
07/20/18- Luckily and Finally Received Combo card In-Hand (Day- 182)



07/16/18 - Info pass appointment Experience : Officer requested to wait to travel until we receive combo card. They could not issue Emergency Card because Original AP was approved along with EAD(that make sense). So we had to cancel our non-refundable ticket as we don't want to take a risk and decided to wait max 1 week as we can, if it wont arrive by one week she will leave w/o Combo card and I will bring it with me when I travel.

Question: Now travel date is Monday and before she leave we would like to get her Non-Identification card done. Can we walk to DMV and get an state ID Card issued based on Just EAD?

Yes, she can apply for a state ID with an EAD in any state.

Can she go without SSN card ? does she require SSN to apply for State ID?

Background : we marked "Yes" to apply for SSN on I-765 Form, but when we called SSA office they said they have not received any application yet.

It’s taking 6.5 to 7 months from application receipt to having a card in hand.

To schedule an Infopass appointment in Chicago, you must call customer service and speak to a representative (20-25 minute wait). They will ask you why and if the reason doesn’t meet their criteria, you will be denied an appointment.

Oh yes you’re probably wondering what are the criteria?
The customer service rep was hesitant to tell me so I asked for a couple examples just for my understanding. She stated that Infopass appointments are only for things that require you to be there such as not knowing your alien number or requiring a document stamped.

My EAD status changed from "expedite request approved" to "expedite request received". Do you know how long will it take o get approved?
