15 long months of this process and we have an interview date in New Orleans. Paperwork was sent to NBC.


November 30, 2016: married to alien spouse
May 22,2017: mailed package to USCIS
May 25, 2017: received mail confirmation from lawyer; arrived at MSC
May 26, 2017: package reviewed and Notice of Approval mailed
May 31, 2017: accepted fingerprint fee for I-485 (Register Permanent Residence/Adjust Status
June 6, 2017: Notice of Approval in mail
June 20, 2017: biometrics appointment
July 12, 2017:lawyer submitted address change
July 18, 2017: responded to address change request and referral was completed
July 26, 2017: case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
October 12, 2017: EAD in production
October 21, 2017: EAD/Advanced Payroll card mailed
October 26, 2017: EAD card received
July 12, 2018: case scheduled for interview
July 20, 2018: received call from attorney that interview is scheduled for August 16th, 2018

It was longer than expected. I am assuming it is due to the backlog of applications since the new presidency. It is marriage based.However, I am just happy that this thing is coming to a close.

Good luck, glad it's finally come around for you. Be sure to come back and tell us about your interview experience.

I’m years late, but the interview experience was quick and wasn’t as nerve-wrecking as I predicted in to be. The interview officer asked me the least questions and asked my husband the most, to include how we met. We received approval at the appointment and he was granted temporary residency since we were married less than 3 years.

After we reached the 3 year mark of being married, we filed for permanent residency. To our surprise, this stage went swiftly even during a pandemic! We received his permanent residency card in 4 months after applying.

Last step is naturalization, which we will be conquering in 2022! It has been a long journey, but we are thankful to be in a financial position to have done it this quickly.
