  • Can I actually call USCIS multiple times in a month?

I've been waiting for my GC interview to be rescheduled (due to USCIS error the first time) for a whole year now, and I was getting a bit impatient so I called them about 5-6 times within the past month and talked to L2 officers few times. I was always told that it's still in process and I should wait more. I also put in about 2 service requests so far, no answers to both of them.

Now here's my actual question. I've heard people saying "If you call USCIS multiple times they will deny or put RFE on your case and it will have overall negative impacts on your case".

How can this be true? USCIS always NEEDS a legit reason for case denial or RFE, they can't just randomly deny or delay cases just cuz I called them about case status right?

I mean sure, if I say anything nonsense or incorrect while I'm talking to L2 officer then I guess an RFE would make sense.

Are all these just nonsense rumors?
I don't understand why people are saying these kind of things.

People are always spreading rumors. Do not pay attention. You may call USCIS with a purpose as often as you need to. However, at one point, you have to decide whether that's getting you anywhere. I think you are that point. You filed January 2017? Got scheduled for interview in August 2017 and you were told the Service Center had not sent your file yet? That is nonsense.

Here are my questions for you.
    1. What's your field office?
    2. Is this marriage based adjustment of status?
    3. Did you ever get your EAD/AP?

    I think you should:
    1. Reach out to your Senator and have their office inquire on your behalf. If that takes you nowhere, then reach out to the Ombudsman.

Here is the link to find your Senator. https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact
Keep it brief, and do not use inflammatory language. Start the letter with "To The Honorable Senator Jane Smith". Close it with "Very respectfully"
On the senator's web page, you will find a Privacy Act Release Form. Sometimes they have a specific release form for immigration. I would call the office and ask for their immigration case worker email. Confirm which form you need to send.

    All the best,

    USCFFS
