  • Processing Times went back a few month? Help me understand

    Hello All,

I have a question, something that I find really weird. My wife has a receipt date of April 27th 2017. Last year I called a few times the Immigration Customer service and I could also track which month they were processing, I called a few times and they were at July, September, October and the last time I checked they were processing December of 2016 as of February 2018. My office is the Oakland Park in Florida.

However, today I decided to check again and now I see processing times as following:
    18.5 Months to 30.5 Months Family-based adjustment applications February 19, 2016

How can that be? If the last time I called they were at December 2016 how can they be in February now? I have a friend who has a receipt date on December 2016 and she was interviewed last month same office as mine. So I know this is wrong!!!

I also used to check the status from this site and there it has the last time it was updated. It shows September 4th 2016, last update was July 2017 though.

I noticed the website changed a little, it does not say anymore the month they are processing, but the site says "We have posted a ?Receipt date for a case inquiry" in the table below to show when you can inquire about your case. If your receipt date is before the ?Receipt date for a case inquiry", you can submit an ?outside normal processing time? service request"

Am I looking at 2 different things?

How can I know the exact month they are processing now?

    Please help me understand!!

case inquiry date is not the same as the date of the cases they're currently processing.

There are 29 months 23 days between 02-19-16 and today. That's the case inquiry date. That's why it's important that people don't get RFEs. A poorly filed case will sit there for 30.5 months. It's RFE after RFE.

Then you have the TIer 1 and tier 2 reps saying "that office is processing cases from 02-19-16". When really, that's the case inquiry date. Try explaining that to them and they'll hang up on you.

Thanks for the reply, I tried explaining that to them actually, because that's what I thought!!, They insisted that that those were the cases they were working on on my office location.

I will try to schedule a appointment to go the office to get an actual answer for what month they are processing the cases. Based on my friend who got it I think 2 month ago and her case was from December 2016, I believe we should get the interview around October/November... I hope!!

Some field offices like the San Diego office will post the PDs of the cases they're interviewing on the Infopass page. You can search for oakland park, FL filers on the forum as well. Just know that k-1 moves a bit faster than other family based AOS..

Like right now, I know that someone who filed mid August 2017 just got scheduled for an interview in Minneapolis on 08-23-18. That's really the only way to keep track of what field offices are doing.
