  • No status update for 3 months after RFE - called customer service and its good

I had my RFE recieved on May 4th, and it was very confusing what they asked for. After 3 months I was a bit concerned as to what was going on.

I finally got to speak to a Level 2 officer who was really helpful, and my case was "ready to be scheduled" on May 15th. This was never updated on the website or any notifications. That was annoying but good to know it had moved to that stage

I had no luck with customer service in the past, and was reluctant to call, but it was worth it this time.

NYC waiting times suck, but I'm happy it is at that stage at least

Orlando Field Office here. My i485 has been in the status of ?Notice was returned to USCIS because the Post Office could not deliver it? for almost three months as well. We?ve already had a new one sent to us forever ago and my husband has already done his biometrics and still no status update on either i485 or i765. I think they gave up lol. It?s super frustrating because the wait is awful enough with out not knowing what?s going on or where they?re at with the case. Especially for a control freak like me 😅

I dont know what priority date is, never had one on my reciepts. My original filing date was September 26th, first RFE was then received on Nov 8th 17 which I assume makes me day one from then

NYC is going to be a long wait

I have the same thing. According to tier2 level officer, everything looks
Good and the file is in the Queue for interview. That has been since March 16.
No status has been changed since feb.

Is there something we can do??

I don't think so. My thought process is, if its ready to be scheduled, then its passed the admin part, and they are satisfied with that stage of the process. I just hope that what the USCIS person is telling me is correct, as there are no official updates.

I'm going to sit on it and wait now, get on with enjoying life as it should be

Hi! How did you get to a Level 2 officer? I spoke with a customer service representative before, would they help you transfer the call to an officer?

From what Ive read on the USCIS site, you can ask to speak to Level 2 at any time. The impression I get though is, the Level 1 will ask you why. I assume they screen your reasons / cicumstances to see if its applicable for Level 2 eg. I had an issue with the RFE sent by them so I got transferred

I've had varying responses from Level 2, some very unhelpful, and the last one very helpful indeed.

Just be as clear and polite as possible. You will prob have to schedule a call back, which can take about 1-2 hours

To be clear, "officers" at the Contact Center are not Immigration Services Officer. They are customer service agents with varying degrees of access to your file. Tier 1 reps see what we can see at home. Basically, that's only helpful if you do not have an internet connection. Tier 2 can see more if they feel like digging. Again, they are not Immigration Services Officers. If you want to speak to an immigration Services officer, then you can do so by making an infopass appointment.

They're also not at the NBC. They're at the contact center "out west"

Yeah that's what I figured. A customer service rep told my husband that he could partially submit documents when we got an RFE and he said we could always submit more if it's not enough..So glad we didn't listen to him, instead I read online and submitted all documents at one time. Result could've been bad..

                      Hi Uscitizenfillingforspouse,
First of all thank you for everything. You have always been so helpful. Do you have any knowledge of this: if the officer tells you, your case is in the queue of interview. What does that suppose to mean? I haven?t seen any change in the case since feb 2018 for I-485.
                      Thank you! 🙂
