  • Interview cancelled. LOL

I thought I'd share this. A bit anti-climactic. It is what it is. We are probably just going to wait out the process and get to the interview on the 2 year mark and avoid ROC altogether.

    Hello:

A cancelled interview may very well be in your favor. Now that I understand the timelines of ROC and N400 a bit better, I can see that a delayed or in your case cancelled interview may increase greater benefits toward a ten year GC or citizenship .

    All the best.

Huh? Was that a glitch? How can they cancel an interview they never scheduled?

That's a thought. After digging online, I found a few other people who also had the "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" status update TWICE. It seems like it reset the priority date in their case. IF that's the case with us, then hopefully we would be looking at the 10 year card, when the interview comes around.

I think that this happened because of our change of address. We submitted the AR-11 on 07-26-18. USCIS of course, ignored it until 08-08-18. That's when the Change of address was confirmed back to Minnesota. So I am thinking that we were probably next in line to interview in Raleigh, NC. Then the change of address was confirmed, and the NBC scheduled the interview in Minneapolis, MN. The Field Office likely saw that, since the file is not in Minneapolis, MN, they just cancelled it.

A part of me wants to exploit the "We cancelled your interview" update, and there is a chance of succeeding in making them honor it BUT it would mean ROC. I'd rather go in there being sure that we're betting on the 10 year card.

            Hello:

Certainly, I believe your change of address sealed the deal. All will work in your favor. Now I am wishing that we had to change something in our path to get the 10 year ourselves, but each individual has he or her own destiny to accomplish. Evidently some will go through cancellation and others will be subjected to ROC.

            All the best.

I?m guessing I have something similar going on. I received the interview has been scheduled notice. I saw it twice in the history. This was 2hrs after I submitted change of address. Calling to tier2 today worried I wouldn?t get my notice he told me no interview wasn?t scheduled for me. Guessing I?ll Be getting my interview has been cancelled notice soon.

they didnt bother to cancel mine, they just moved it back one step to ready to schedule and then scheduled a new one.

                  Boogiewoogie,

we have not heard anything from USCIS. Truth is we have come to peace with the cards we've been dealt. The case just shows "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". We are not expecting an interview anytime soon. Sure, we could push for one and involve a Senator but for right now, we just want to live life until the interview happens. We have incorporated collecting evidence in our daily lives. We now sharpie a green check mark on top of every receipt that could be tied to evidence. And today we are getting a family plan. LOL, you would think we would have one but we didn't. My husband was on a family plan with 300 Malaysian students - literally. So that was cheaper for him.

So for now, we know that we are on the Minneapolis Field Office factory line. I also know from another site what cases the Minneapolis Field Office is currently scheduling. I know of a gal who overstayed a B1 visa. She filed on 06-07-18 and got a notification on 08-23-18 that an interview had been scheduled. That is exactly 14 months 17 days. Add another month to estimate the actual interview date and you get into the 15 month range. Then, the office does not approve people on the spot - they usually make people wait for 3 weeks or so.

We're cool with that. I've been through ROC - granted it was pre-internet era- and I gotta tell you it was not fun.

                  All the best,

                  USCFFS

maybe they moved your interview office and so you got on the back of the queue again?

in my situation they took over 2 years to interview and i got the perm one right away

Yes, my jurisdiction was updated. I wouldn't say that our file got moved to the back of the queue BUT the "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" was reset from 04-23-18 to 08-09-18. So that's likely our place in the queue.
Congrats on your 10 year card. That's what we are aiming for.
