Pay AGAIN to renew EAD permit while I485 pending?

hello,
It?s been a year since we applied to adjust my husband status. We did all the paperwork via lawyer and we applied for a EAD permit as well. Since y?all might know cases are taking longer than expected and we need to renewe EAD again. We called our lawyer and said that we need to pay $685 to renew it (485 to USCIS and 200 to do the paperwork) I don?t mind to pay $200 to make sure that everything goes okay but the $485 doesn?t sounds right because searching on the Internet says that renewing EAD has no fees while I485 still pending...I told my lawyer that and says that sometimes USCIS takes the money order and sometimes they just return it, but to be honest I don?t have just money sitting around to send to immigration lol

So, any experiences? Am I right and should I tell my lawyer to send my paperwork without that money order?

ALSO, is there any way to get my EAD sooner? I mean, if I don?t get it by certain date my employer can?t no longer employ me...is that a valid reason?

No, EAD renewal under c9 category is FREE. Nothing. NADA. Pas d'argent. Kostenlos. No dinero. Fire that lawyer. You can do this yourself. In addition, that lawyer just proved to you that he/she is a crook. When people show you who they are, ALWAYS believe them.

Just follow the I-765 instructions. You will need basically the same stuff you submitted for the initial one and a copy of the current EAD. It can be submitted up to 180 days before it expires. Some people find that filing a renewal triggers the interview to be scheduled. Do it ASAP. The ead will get an automatic 180 day extension with the I-797.

Do not forget to send the I-131 as well, that way the AP is renewed too.

Right now, job loss is not a valid reason to expedite. You can try. It's just that the I-797 gives you an automatic 180 day

Hahahaha a formal government agency with specific rules. ?Sometimes? decides to take money or not. Think your lawyer meant sometimes the race track near his home takes the money or not.
