  • My case seems to be going too slow

    Hello, everyone!

I got married at the end of December, 2017 to US Citizen.

Below is the timeline for my permanent residency request so far:

    Jan 16, 2018 - Packet sent (I-485, 765, 130, 131) all together
Jan 22, 2018 - Packet received and got the receipts for all the forms that I sent
    Feb 20, 2018 - Biometric appointment set
    March, 2018 - Biometric appointment
July 31, 2018 - Request for Initial Evidence was sent
Aug 13, 2018 - Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received

I filed everything by myself, reading and asking around. It feels like my application is taking longer than usual even though it is based on marriage.

I have not even gotten my EAD or Travel authorization yet.

    My questions are:
    - How much longer do I have to wait to get my interview?
    - When will I get EAD or Travel Authorization?

EAD/AP is averaging 5 to 7 months- but the RFE slowed that down because the process stops until you return the information.

Interview- We have been waiting since March of 2017. I am hoping it is sooner than later, but who knows!!!!!!

What Field office are you guys?

I live in Dallas, so the field office that I will be going in is in Irving, TX.

            How about you?

If you look my time line I received the I-693 a month after they sent the RFE (I sent the documents the next day), and received the EAD two months after that. The good news for you is that after they receive the RFE documents the process moves really fast comparing with the rest of the waiting.

I recommend you to check your status in both of the web sites, they don't synchronize the updates (in my case)

You got an RFIE 6 months after filing which is super late and could really slow down your case. You have a viable case to reach out to the ombudsman for help or your senator to see them process everything quickly. The i-130A is rather important form.

Actually, on August 17th, it updated to Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.

Should I still try to contact senator's office to help me with the case or should I wait?

You're probably about to be scheduled. That's the beauty of late RFEs. They were probably getting ready to schedule you and then found something was missing.
