EAD And I-485

Hello!

I currently have a B2 visa and eloped with my husband in May.

Should I file an EAD at the same time as my I-485?

I am self employed and my business which currently runs online from the UK is easily implemented in the USA.

Any advice would be great!

Hi! Yes you can file your I-765 EAD (https://www.uscis.gov/i-765) along with your I-485 AOS (https://www.uscis.gov/i-485). If you want, you can also file your I-131 Advance Parole (https://www.uscis.gov/i-131) with the I-485. Both EAD and AP are free when filed with I-485. Don't leave the US without an approved I-131, otherwise your I-485 is considered 'abandoned'. Bookmark the USCIS website (https://www.uscis.gov/) and carefully read through all the filing instructions; they're very detailed so make sure you follow to a T.

As you begin your Adjustment of Status (AOS) journey and get a first glance of the required Forms and their corresponding Instructions, do not panic. There are a lot lot lot of references available online, e.g., USCIS, this Forum, Google, YouTube. Your extreme patience and limitless resourcefulness will carry you through.

Oh and do make sure to sign up for these services: 1) USPS Informed Delivery; 2) USCIS myaccount (https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/); and, 3) USCIS case status (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/di...3840A79C6181D3). Activate both text and email notifications on all.
