  • Any Petition or Way to Protect Your Parents from Deportation?

    Hello,

I currently hold the conditional green card and my parents are wondering if there is anything that I can do to protect them from being deported. They got into a fight with a friend (verbal and not physical) and they fear that they can report them to ICE.

As far as I know, there is nothing that can be done.

    Your thoughts will help.

    Thank you.

Nothing you can do until you become an American citizen. The need to keep a low profile until you can file for them.

Thank you. I thought so as well. And my husband can't do anything either correct? Sorry for bugging you about this and thank you.

No there is no category for in-laws in the INA. Just get ready to naturalize as soon as you are eligible and then you will be able to help them after you naturalize. Until then just hope and pray that Trump does not succeed in changing the law to eliminate family reunification as he has been trying.

Well, no one should be aware of the fact that they don?t have green cards. People just shouldn?t be talking about that.
About a year ago I had to help my husband understand that. Anytime anyone would ask anything like ?oh what do you do for work?? He?d say ?oh I?m adjusting status. I?m waiting for my EAD?
That?s no one?s business. MN was one of those states that almost had the state constitution amended to make marriage between a man and a woman. Sure, there was a vote and that didn?t happen. The movement against the amendment did not win by a landslide of votes. I told him there are people still frustrated about it so whatch who you tell you are adjusting status which means to them you?re not in status and ALL THEY HEAR is that you are here illegally.
It?s time to bake cookies for your neighbors.
You could join the armed forces and get on the fast track to naturalization. You?d be an officer if you have a bachelors degree.

Tell them to stay out of trouble. They shouldn't be worried so much about getting reported as they should about being arrested for getting in trouble over something not worth it. Over 50% of the arrest ICE makes come from criminal conduct or behavior.
