My guess is that they only get faster processing times because they are likely to hire attorneys who will file thier pettition in a manner that won't generate RFEs

I dont think so because you dont send any paperwork about your income if your the beneficiary. They wont know how much income you have.

A 6-figure income does not make you rich, and it certainly does not speed up the adjustment of status process.

Valid point but I have seen many self filers manage to submit error free and complete AOS petitions. So I don't think that's it.

Not even close, its actually the opposite the two major things that drive AOS timelines are "severe financial loss" and the "amount of applications in your area". Higher income cities have much longer waits due to population density. USCIS also rejects many expedites or pushes them back if the situation is not dire. The Senator/Congressman will push harder for cases they know they can use an advantage, again severe financial loss.

If you really want super fast AOS timelines, go make the poverty line income doing humanitarian work in Clevland. Or go make very little doing research in an super important field for a university.

I think where it makes a difference is not in the general speed, but in how much evidence you'd be able to easily generate (in general).

For example, getting a legal will and Advanced directive, sure there are free will kits (and some are garbage), but if you can pay for a lawyer...
More income for shared memberships
Paying for a family phone plan (compared to pay as you go phones which often aren't billed)
Renting or owning your own place vs living with parents
More vacations/trips taken together
More shared big purchases

etc etc.

Not that not having any one of those things will ruin someone's application, but it's easier to have them than have to creatively come up with alternatives.

The I-864 notice mentions that the sponsor has the obligation to support the immigrant until he becomes a U.S. citizen, or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters of work in the United States.

Some people don't seem to understand the consequences. If you can't pay for a mobile phone plan don't sign this affidavit of support.
