Date to be considered for filing I-485

Hello All,

I wish to send my I-485 form based on the January 2019 visa bulletinb. I wish to knoiw what date would USCIS considered for my application: the date on which it was postmarked or the date when it was received and processed by USCIS?

Thanks for your response and sorry for my late reply. I've been sick for the past few days. I received my card and new SSN card!

I believe it takes on average about 2 weeks from case approval until you receive the EAD card (at least that?s what I found out by reading through a bunch of forum threads). Congrats on your interview!!

Did you received the SSN the same day as the EAD card?
We received the EAD yesterday for my husband but still waiting for the SSN and I want to have an idea on how much time to wait .. we want him to be able to get a Texas Driver License ASAP

The SSN should arrive around a week after the EAD (from what I read on several posts).

In Texas you can sign an affidavit saying you don't have a SSN and can't get one. Then you supply documents that prove that you are living legally. They scan the documents, fill information in the computer and send everything to DHS, they can either confirm you are legal at that point, or they need more time. You then will receive a letter to come back to get your license once DHS confirm your are legal. This is from experience, getting first Texas drivers license and renewing 3 times. Last Friday I tried to renew my license and they were not able to confirm my legal status immediately, so now I'm waiting for the letter to confirm legal status and get my new drivers license.

Of course, at this point, you should just wait a week for the SSN.

Little tip for everyone cause I WAS NOT aware of this:

If you move, USPS does not forward government documents like EADs. They usually send them back to USCIS or like in my case to your old address. I changed my address with usps and uscis and they STILL sent my EAD to my old address. I just went through very stressfull three days cause my old apartment complex refused to give me access to my old mailbox! They finally gave in today after we told them we?re going to get a lawyer involved so we would get access to our old mailbox (my husband is an attorney so he is pretty convincing when it comes to this kind of stuff).

I just wanted to share it with you guys so nobody makes the same mistakes as I did!

But so far I still don?t know why my EAD was sent to my old address while my EAD approval notice was sent to my new address...

Some people call it 'bureaucracy'

I guess just updated the address on one system and not the one they use to send the EAD cards.

Still Waiting

Got the automated update yesterday that there have been not updates on my case at this time. PD is 08/16, Brooklyn Field Office, Case at NBC.

I know everyone's case is different, but the wait has been so long at this point. I just want to go see my mother who has been unwell
