Which part of LA are you in?!?
You are the first one I hear to have gotten an EAD in LA within 5 months. Gives me hope! Although, I’m starting to get worried since my case has not update to “case is ready to be schedule for interview”.

Same for me. Not sure if it means anything. However, when I look at cases around mine, most of them are still on "Fingerprint fee received" so..

It honestly doesn’t mean as much since they aren’t doing a good job in updating the case status. For instance my I-765 and I-131 still say Case Received since my PD while my I-485 says ready to be scheduled for interview so don’t rely too much on what your status says.

Expedite Request to Senator (Emailed and sent docs incl employer termination notice, rental bills, grocery bills, kids private school tuition) Dec 01, 2018
Senator responded that he cannot expedite as its not a valid ground...
Contacted USCIS directly to make expedite request (Dec 13, 2018)
Wife EAD Approved (Dec 13, 2018)

USCIS Approved my Expedite Request !!!!! (Dec 20, 2018)
My Card in Printing (Dec 20, 2018)

Moral of the story: Guys dont leave your problems to Lawyers or Senators, try yourself too....

My husband status has said we recieves your case on everything. We are 2 months since we sent in a expedite EAD request and no word yet this is soooo frustrating. Like were not sure what else can be done we just want him to at least get the EAD so he can work. My lawyer is just like oh well this is the process.

What's your PD? Mine is 08/01, got a job offer on 11/07, requested for expedition on 12/07, got email asking for evidence and faxed evidence on 12/10, nothing until now.
A friend of mine submitting the package on 07/30 got her EAD in the mailbox on 12/24, she even got an RFIE on 08/21.
So frustrating.

Or did you use a congressman?

Applying for state ID without physical SSC

Hi Everyone,

I received my EAD on Monday (Dec 24th). This morning I visited my local social security office. They told me my social security card was issued on Dec 19th so it should arrive in my mail shortly.

I also want to apply for the state ID. I was told I need my social security card to do so but if I don’t have my ssc physically yet, can I still apply for the ID? They gave me my social security number so I’m not sure if that’s enough.

My potential employer wants me to have my state ID in order to start work. Is the state ID necessary to start employment?

I received my EAD on Monday (Dec 24th). This morning I visited my local social security office. They told me my social security card was issued on Dec 19th so it should arrive in my mail shortly.

I also want to apply for the state ID. I was told I need my social security card to do so but if I don’t have my ssc physically yet, can I still apply for the ID? They gave me my social security number so I’m not sure if that’s enough.

Your EAD serves as a Class A document. It provides evidence of your identity AND authorization for employment. That is all your employer needs. Now, if you are applying for a job that involves driving and they need to see a driver's license, that is different.

I got an RFIE as well, but I heard that the case is on hold until the evidence requested is processed which means that the EAD timeline is affected as well...

Update: Case Ready to be Scheduled for Interview

Got the text message notification last night that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. It was radio silence on my case after my fingerprint review was completed (Sept. 25) until now. I live in Brooklyn so understand it'll be a long wait anyway, but it was good to see some movement after so long.

I hope the rest of us August filers hear some good news in the next few weeks about our combo card. My mom has been sick and I'm currently out of work and would have loved to go home to see/care for her.
