So here is what I send other than the normal things that you have to send (legal documents) Oh btw Me and my husband have never lived together before getting married, and we were married for only a couple of weeks before we send the documents.
- Legal Documents, Fees and forms (Concurrent)
- 6 Affidavits of Bona fide Marriage (3 from family members, 3 from friends)
- Copy of Life Insurance Beneficiary Information
- Pictures that document relationship and marriage (Before the pictures, we made a short explanation about our relationship. How long we have known each other, how we met, how we got engaged, etc. It was just a 2 paragraph short explanation, but we made sure that let whoever was reading it see a little into our relationship) In total we send around 30 pictures. (Printed 2 per page) We have known each other for 12 years, and have been together for 2 years.
- Copy of joint bank account information
That was all the legal documents that we had together so that was all that we send.
For the interview I had a lot more evidence to take.
- Notarized Affidavit from my mom that said we live with her. (The IO asked for it and kept it)
- 2 Joint Credit Cards information (I add him to mine, He add me to his) (The IO Kept this)
- Advance Directive for Medical decisions (The IO kept this, and made a comment that this shows how much we trust each other)
- Concert tickets, soccer game tickets (She didnt take a look at those)
- Printed book with our wedding pictures (The IO looked at it and gave it back, We had a copy of it for her to keep but she said she already had enough pictures.)
- Pictures from vacations with hotel reservations attached to it (She kept this)
- At least 100 more pictures (The IO didn't look or take them)
- I had extra copies of every single document that we have already send, or that we were bringing with us for the first time (Some she needed some she didn't)
- Our binder was very organized. All my legal documents were all together, all his legal documents were all together, the copies for each were also separated. (I'm saying this because the IO made a comment on how easy we were making her job by being so organized) Every single document that she asked for we knew exactly were it was on the binder, so it was easy and quick to give it to her.
-I had other documents that she never looked or asked or cared for. (Screenshots of conversations, ******** posts, etc)
I have to say my interview was very nice and pleasant. I was extremely nervous and our waiting time was for over 3 hours, which made me even more nervous. She asked the normal legal questions, she asked about our dog (He have a lot of pictures with her. She is a cutie lol) and who took care of her, she asked my husband how was living with my mom going, she asked about who cooked and what type of food, she asked about my husband's work and mine. That was about it, everything else was about being hungry and where we were going to eat after the interview (It was about 2pm, our interview was scheduled for 10am) At the end she just explained how to get my 10 year GC in 2 years and she printed a letter that said that my GC was approved
Here are some advise I can give you about my whole experience (I'm not saying this is the only way to go, or that any other advise is wrong. This is Just my opinion, from my experience)
- If you call USCIS be nice to them. Don't be rude and demand to talk to supervisors. Remember this is just like any other call center, and if you have ever worked in one, you know you can put notes on peoples files saying that they are rude, so the next person that has to deal with that customer is warned and predispose that you will not be nice to them. If you feel like the person you are talking to is not that into helping just say "I'm sorry my phone is loosing reception Ill call back again" and hang up and call again. Chances are the next person will be nicer. At least that worked for me every time.
- When contacting your Senator. I have read here a lot of times DO NOT contact a republican senator, Well I say make sure you know who is your Senator in both sides, and what do they stand for. I'm Venezuelan and live in Florida. Marco Rubio is the republican senator for Florida. I know that he helps and cares about the situation going on in Venezuela, so he was the senator I contacted. As you can see on my timeline, the next day I got my AED card approved.
- I have read here of people looking for the IO on ********. I would say do not do this. If I was that IO I would be creeped out and felt like is an invasion of my privacy and wouldn't be very helpful to someone that makes me feel uncomfortable.
- My binder was not 1000's of pages long, but I did make sure that you could see us and our relationship on the documents that I send.
- There are amazing advises here that helped me out so much, but there is also horrible ones. So just make sure you analyze them and make your own decision. You are the only one that knows exactly your case, and the only one that has to live with the consequences of your decisions. So take advise with a grain of salt and use what works for you!
Sorry for the super long post but I hope its helpful for others out there!
