  • Do I have to bring most recent taxes W-2 of my sponsor for the interview?

I just received my interview notice and read about W-2s.

My question is do I have to bring the most recent taxes W-2 of my sponsor for the interview? even though I did submit his tax return when I applied last year? Anything else to bring related to my sposor?

Thank You all, and hoping for a detailed answer about that.

If u have an interview soon and u didn't submit 2017 tax returns then u must do so, that is according to the interview letter.

I did submit my sponsor 2017 tax returns, but not 2018, do you think I would need 2018 the most recent?

      Thank you .

Unless you have a time machine and have gone forward in time like a wizard, it is impossible to provide 2018 tax returns as the 2018 tax season hasn't begun. but you can always bring a copy of the 2017 return to give to the officer just in case they misplaced it.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

That's right, you are the expert here, I did not know about that. It's just I have his 2016 tax return and I am going to ask him to get me 2017 this week.

          Thank you

              Yes

Yes, most of the time USCIS will ask for the latest W2 or latest tax return. As for my case, yes, the IO did ask too see my W2.

Your 2018 tax return(s) is(are) due in April 2019. The most recent is the 2017 return, which you need. (Look for the year written on it, as in "tax year"). Ideally the transcript that you can order online from the IRS (arrives in about a week by mail, or online immediately).

So if I understand this correctly, they don't go off of the tax/income information you provided when you filed alone? When my wife (she's the USC) and I filed for me last year, she was earning enough to sponsor me out right we filed her tax returns/transcripts that were current up to that point. We figured we'd have gone through the whole process and been interviewed by now. We have a 2017 return that shows we meet and exceed the 125% poverty threshold. But this is where it gets a little worrisome.

I got a pretty good job paying well earlier this year. We decided that my wife didn't need to work so 3-4 months ago she left her job. Am I to understand that if we don't get interviewed before 2018 tax returns are the most recent that we're likely going to have a problem?

That's not true. The instructions clearly said transcripts or the returns with w2 forms. I did the latter and received no RFE's.🙄

Kind of related so didn't want to open a new thread.

I am applying soon, my wife has her W2s for 2015,2016,2017 and 1040ez for 2017. She only had W2 income and for 2015 and 2016 her income was much lower compared to now.

Also she has employment verification and pay stubs.

It says optional for 2015 and 2016, I get it but I need to put total income and W2s for those years. She did tax returns but did not save her files. In 2015 she was dependent on her dad.

I can write her total income W2s for 2015 and 2016 but do you think it is absolutely vital to wait for tax receipts for the form I864?

There are plenty of guides online. What exactly do you have problems with?

Yeah, I sometimes have problems with filling this form too because I'm too young for all this tax paperwork. It was usually my parents' work but recently I've decided to live separately, being an independent girl. That's too much stress tbh. Anyway, I found at https://pdf-to-dxf.com/blog/how-to-fill-w-2-form-guide/ a good step-by-step guide about this form. It's helpful and I almost understood everything I need to know. Honestly, I don't know what would I do without internet guys who help dummies like me, LOL.
