  • I-485 Interview completed. Got an Rfe.

    Hello guys,

We had our interview this past Thursday and I'm still processing everything.

It was scheduled for 9:30 and we were seen at 10:45. The IO was completely confused on what was going on. She just asked our names, address, dob, the yes and no questions. She also asked us to describe how we met.

When it came the time to present bonafide marriage, I showed her:
    - car loan in both of our names
    - home loan for a property we are trying to buy.
    - car insurance in both of our names
    - internet bill on my name - our address
    - my name on the his dental insurance
    - we had our tax return filled together - she did not want to see that
    - pics

She said it wasn't enough. She said I needed more documents with both of our signatures?!?, She asked if we had a joint account ( we do but I didn't take since we don't use it that much).

I got out of there furious, I thought I had enough. What else should we send them now?
I asked her how long would take for the case to be reviewed and she said 3 weeks after receiving the paperwork. Does anybody know if this is accurate?

Please help in figuring out what else to send to them?

    Thank you.

Three weeks is generally the minimum about that it takes, but it can take longer. it sounds like not only was she confused and possibly new, but you didn't bring enough proof of bonafide marriage. when you get the RFE, respond as requested and go from there. Best of Luck
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

What else can I send them? That could have signatures?

I've been looking for it and can't find it. Would you be kind enough to send me the link?

I'm adding car registration in both of our names.
              My name on life insurance.
              Sam's club membership.
Will add joint account even though we don't use it as much.
The actual insurance card for both cars with both of our names.
I will try to get my name in some of the house bills.
His brother wedding invite addressed to both of us and with my married name.

This ought to be enough, hopefully.
I'm waiting for the letter, should be coming by Friday, and will send everything out on Monday.

Omg, I can't believe this. I guess I messed up big time on the interview. I didn't have anything like that and just showed her the docs.

I will send it everything as it supposed to be. Hopefully everything will be okay soon.

She did say she was going recommend us for approval upon receipt of the bonafide marriage stuff, so that's good.

The RFE is your opportunity to overload your applications with all the evidence that you have available. When they say it's not enough, they really mean "I am suspecting fraud here. Is this really all you have?"
Take a look at this thread https://www.immihelp.com/forum/showt...interview-tips There are very good examples of how to arrange your evidence. You will need a Table of Contents.

                    1. did you send any evidence of bona fide marriage with your AOS package?
                    2. Did you file for AOS right after getting married?
                    3. Did you bring any evidence that showcases the longevity of your relationship? Often times, if you file right after getting married, it's best to submit evidence from the time you met. Otherwise, they ISO may think you met on Monday, got married on Tuesday and filed for AOS on Wednesday.

I strongly encourage you to present a financial power of attorney - notarized, as well as an advance health care directive - notarized as well. Read through that thread. You will find tons of examples of how people staged their evidence.

                    All the best,

                    USCFFS
