  • AOS for Mom - fingerprints question please

My Mom had her fingerprints taken on 7/27/18. Ever since then, there was no update on uscis' website - it still says that the fingerprint fee was received. Is this a regular time frame? Any shared experience is greatly appreciated

    TIA

    Sonya981,

unfortunately, the USCIS website is very inconsistent about updates. I am wondering if you created an account on these two sites
https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displayLogon.do This account can be linked to the USCIS case tracker app which is much more consistent about updates.

You sort of need all 3 to give you the most complete picture that you can get. I'd say get all 3.

The nice thing about immediate relative petitions for parents is that those are usually adjudicated without an interview. You will not get a notification stating that the interview will be waived. The green card will simply arrive in the mail in most cases. If you sent all evidence required at the time of filing AND a solid affidavit of financial support, I would speculate that the green card will just arrive in the mail.

When I sponsored my mother in 2005, she got her EAD/AP like clockwork within 90 days and then on the 5th month mark, she got the green card by mail.

    All the best,

    USCFFS

Omg, you are awesome!! Thanks much for the info. I hope having all 3 will give me a better understanding of the process.
I am just surprised of its inconsistency....some petitioners get responses fast while others wait a long time.

I did not submit the medical with the oriģinal package, afraid that it might take over a year and didn't want $$$ to go to waste. What's odd though is that I have not received a request for the medicals. Basically nothing after having done the biometrics.

I wish today the process was as smooth as in 2005.
2017 marked the beginning of a new era.
Hopefully it all goes fast. We are looking forward to the travel document.

      Thanks again for your reply.

You're so welcome! Did you set up the accounts? Did you find updates you didn't know about?

Petitions for parents of US citizens do tend to move a little faster. I am wondering if they may send your parent a RFE for the medical. If they do, that would mean USCIS intends to waive the interview. If they don't and you get a courtesy letter for the I-693, then that means there will be an interview.

If you have a reason to expedite, then you may do so.

The system is so cluttered. When I filed for my mother back in 2005, that was during the time they were implementing DORA (District Office Rapid Adjudication). Unfortunately, that program did not last long.

        Hang tight.
