  • My Employer rejected my EAD renewal receipt

I currently work at the airport here in Houston Texas. I tried to renew my airport badge that expires next month same date as my EAD expiration but the Houston Airport System employee rejected the receipt notice showing I have automatic extension for 180 days. She confirmed from her supervisor came back telling me that her supervisor and the CBP office in the airport said I should wait until it expires and if I don?t get my green card that they MAY renew my badge for 3 months. I was astonished. They obviously don?t understand what the letter says and when I tried breaking it down for her the lady was still ignorant and dumb.

I don?t want to be without a job when my EAD expires. I tried calling USCIS today but no one was picking up they seemed very busy. I plan on calling tomorrow and see what I can do if I can speak to a level 2 officer or supervisor and explain my ordeal. What do you guys advice????

I would have demanded to speak to a supervisor. Bring your phone or ipad and/or print the info from the USCIS website.
So let me get this straight, that employee had time to go to a supervisor and also to the CBP office? Please... that's when I know people are lying to me just to get me out of their hair. I would complain.

I would also print this. https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/42...-circumstances That's from the Employer Manual.
That person is clearly uninformed. I really want to say he/she is an idiot but I have no way of corroborating that. HOWEVER, it is a sign of limited intelligence to not be able to connect the dots, when presented with information that clearly indicates how you should proceed. *SIGH*

The employee?s expired EAD in combination with the Form I-797C Notice of Action showing that the EAD renewal application was timely filed and showing the same qualifying eligibility category as that on the expired EAD is an acceptable document for Form I-9. This document combination is considered an unexpired Employment Authorization Document (Form I-766) under List A.

Seems like justice department phone call is needed to the Houston Airport. But I would wait a while longer as your renewal not needed asap.

The problem here that you want to renew your badge 1 month before its expiration date and i think therefore you've been denied.

Ask them politely when they would like you to come over to renew your badge and what documents they would like to see. After they will tell you that you should bring your employment authorization documents, you should explain that your EAD card has same expiration date as the badge but you have a letter from USCIS confirming that you have extnation for 180 days after your card expiration date.
Also you can bring all other papers what were advised below by other users.

              Good luck!

i was not even trying to renew my airport badge before it expires I was just asking if they would accept the extension letter so I don?t have any issues when it expires but next month I?ll sort it out. I wish USCIS would make these easier for all of us especially us in Houston and give us a date for the interview.

This link apparently lets anyone check their status to work, perhaps show them your status online? Its a government gateway?

My PD is July 13th is 2017 I hope they remember me before my 3rd year anniversary. I called Uscis yesterday and the lady I spoke to was mad and told me the airport authorities had no right to say no to my 180 days extension and she told me if I go back there next month and they still act a fool I should call Uscis number and one of the agents will verify my extension.
