  • Green card mailed to wrong address

I completed my AOS interview on September 5,2018 at NYC Federal Plaza. Our IO was very nice and the entire interview was more of a conversation, only asked about 3 questions (where we met, differences between us, and our future plans)

    Priority Date: August 21,2017

Did change of address in Feb 2018.

Received notice that address was changed successfully.

On the day of the interview, the IO updated the address as well

I received email notification on September 10 that my card was mailed.

On September 11, email notification that card picked up by USPS.

Came home Friday, still no mail. Called USCIS to confirm the address is correct. ( Did not receive interview notice as it said it was undeliverable, luckily it was also sent to out lawyer office)

Got a tracking number, even though email said non was available.

Called USPS because tracking shows no update from out for delivery on September 13. Only to find out the numbers of my mailing address was interchanged. Luckily that was not a valid address, else someone else would have my card.

Called the local post office this morning hoping I could walk in and collect it, but was already returned the same day they could not do the delivery.

Now have to wait until Monday to call USCIS to see what the next step is.

Anyone ever had this experience and how long did it take to receive green card once it was returned?

To anyone reading this, the first red flag was that you did not receive your interview notice. I would have had the Post office hold all your mail for a month. You could have also signed up text notifications from USPS.

You need to raise hell with USPS, USCIS. Do not stop after talking to a first level rep. Call USPS and make them accountable. Ask for a supervisor. Take names. File a complaint. Tell them that you are getting your Senator involved. You will see how these people start making the wheels turn.
