After my biometrics appointment in Dec 2017, there was an eerie silence from USCIS; no texts/emails/mails for 4 months. The next update post-biometrics came in April 2018; an RFE for my joint sponsor's 2017 tax returns. Fun! Lol. I received the actual RFE in mail 3 days after the email notice. I was given 87 days to respond. After USCIS received my response, the next update said, 'Our National Benefits Center office will begin working on your case again'.

Let us know what the RFIE is for. Good luck!

I really hope you will receive RFIE in next few days. Good luck with USPS if it comes to that.

It has been 16 days for me since they sent the RFIE and nothing. I even made friends with our ma***oman and she added my maiden name inside the mailbox just in case. I have received everything over the last 9 months for my married name and maiden name - I am just paranoid for not receiving RFIE for more than two weeks but still hoping it will come.
We are going to post office with my husband on Monday as when I wanted to join informed delivery online they sent me an e-mail to finish the process at local post office with an official ID where my address will be visible - which I don't have, as I can't work, can't apply for drivers license - as I don't have EAD and SSN... Will also try to find out if by any chance my RFIE was for some reason undelivered and sent back to USCIS.

Your passport should be fine for informed delivery, no?

They want US photo ID with current address on it. If I don't have it, I should bring one of these: Home or vehicle insurance policy; voter or vehicle registration card; Mortage, lease or deed of trust - I don't have anything as I don't have SSN and EAD to pass drivers license to purchase the car for work I don't have.

Our post office is quite small and all the people that work there were nice, so I hope on Monday we will solve something.

The case inquiry date just changed to 03-24-18. It's happened before that they've changed it before people are able to submit a SR. Hope you get this right away!

                  Received rfie in mail

Hi guys , my husband retrieved RFE (form I-485) from our mail box . He rushed me home so we opened the mail together. I was so nervous he read it.

                  - ?The petitioner sponser [fill in my husbands?s name], on form I-864 , Affidavit of support, must submit a complete Federal income tax return submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for 2017?

They gave me 87 days to respond.
They gave me 2 addresses to submit it to. ( 1 ) address for regular mail and ( 1 ) address for express mail or courier deliveries (no questions which address we are going to send it to !

                  Wow ! I can?t believe I missed that .
All questions and comments are welcomed !

Only documents I received from USCIS so far are all four I-797 for receiving my 485, 130, 131 and 765. And then few days later invitation for interview to biometrics. All of these in April.

My RFIE from Sept 5th is still nowhere to be seen. Am going on Monday to try to find something at post office, and then call again USCIS, although they will again tell me to just wait until Oct 5th to submit a request I am sure. Something must have happened, 17 days and still no mail...

I checked if we submitted tax return for 2017 and according to the cover letter I attached we did, so maybe something similar is in that elusive mail for us too as my husband changed job in 2015 and maybe they didn't like the papers he provided. I got confused and let it up to mu husband - all the W2's, 1099 and whatelse... We will see, if we ever get that mail

Hi! I suggest you re-register online but this time register your USC spouse's name. If online verification fails, scroll down and 'Opt In' for In-Person Verification. Wait for their e-mail with the barcode. Print the barcode. Go to the post office listed on the email with your spouse, make sure your USC spouse brings US government-issued photo ID showing the registered address. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Good to know you got the RFE! I also had 87 days to respond, but mine was to submit my joint sponsor's 2017 Federal ITR (below is a screenshot of our cover letter). Although it wasn't asked in the letter, my hubby and I decided to grab the chance to submit supplemental Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage. Our original submission was Nov 2017, RFE came April 2018, sent response packet June 2018 - a gap of 7 months. We decided to bridge the gap by including evidences covering Dec 2017-June 2018. But this is not required, ok? Lol. It's your choice to either just submit what the RFE asks for, or also update your Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage (below is a screenshot of what we added).

Also, make sure to put the copy of the RFE letter on top, it should be the 1st page of your response packet. USCIS will scan this sheet and forward it for further processing, so if you do not include it (or if it is not on top), you can expect further delays. I read that from somewhere so I just followed it.

Good luck and all the best!

Your response to the RFE and Table of Contents are every bureaucrat's dream! LOL May I just say how smart and wise it was to take advantage of the RFE to piggy back additional evidence of bona fide marriage? There were several discussions in this forum about doing that. However, we were all uncertain whether it would work. And now we know it worked for you! Thank you for sharing how you did it! This will help others.
