Status Change: August 14th, 2018 - Interview Was Scheduled
Interview Notice received by mail August 17th, 2018......Scheduled for Sept. 20th, 2018
Interview - Tampa Field Office
My interview was at 12:45, I arrived around 12:05 and went through some preliminary stuff (verifying documents etc.) with my lawyer. My lawyer and my spouse checked in at 12:30 and were directed to the waiting area (There was a naturalization ceremony so the place was really packed). We waited for a little over an hour and we were finally called in around 1:50. The gentleman escorted us to the back, we raised our right hands and swore to tell the truth. He then asked for identification from everybody. My spouse and I both used passports and driver's licenses.
He noticed my lawyer was licensed in South Carolina and immediately asked him about the hurricane. This led to a casual conversation and the officer stated that he was originally born in Puerto Rico. He proceeded to ask my spouse questions from the packet we submitted......place of birth, when did you meet, where did you meet. He then proceeded to ask me the yes or no questions from the form I485. He asked about a previous criminal incident that I answered yes to. I was able to provide documents from the court saying that it was expunged. This was where my lawyer came in handy because he had done his background information and was able to highlight the rule for the officer where this meets the exception and the specific clause that he can reference. At this point the officer left for about 2-3 minutes and came back.
When he came back he said that he would approve the case on the spot and I should expect my card in the mail within 2-3 weeks. He then asked if we had any questions for him to which we answered no. He shook our hands, congratulated us and escorted us out. Interview literally took 15 minutes and was more of a conversation. I had an entire folder with additional evidence that I did not even have to touch.
I must commend my lawyer Adrian Pandev because he did an outstanding job preparing the packet and making this an easy transition for us. Literally the best money that I ever spent, especially given the circumstances of my case. I literally got my green card approved in 87 days.
If you need a lawyer to help you through the process or even just consultation (he doesn't charge for consultation) feel free to reach out to Adrian Pandev at Pandev Law.
