  • Pick up EAD at USPS

    Hi everyone!

Does anyone know how can I pick up my EAD card at the USPS so they don't have to deliver it to my apartment?
They lost my other card when I first applied and I don't want the same thing happening again. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you!

I think it?s is possible if you go to your USPS office the day when it gets there for sorting. If it goes out on truck or walking delivery people , you may lose your chance then. All the best either way it goes down

You can sign up for 'Hold Mail - For Pickup' in your USPS location. But, check first if the service is available in your area: https://holdmail.usps.com/holdmail/

EAD and GC are both Priority Mails. USCIS allows applicants to have the option to arrange for pick-up at a post office at a convenient time and date: https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-rele...livery-service

For better monitoring, make sure to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery, that way you are alerted once USCIS has scanned and dispatched the EAD to your address from Lee's Summit, MO. (My GC originated from Corbin, KY, and after googling, I read there's a GC production facility in Corbin, KY.) You can check if Informed Delivery is offered in your area: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/bo...o/start.action

Informed Delivery normally lets you know of the expected delivery date of a package. As soon we got the delivery date of my GC, hubby and I went to our post office and filled-up a 'Hold Mail for Pick-Up' request for mails coming on said date. Then when we got the email alerts from USPS and USCIS (same day) that package has arrived at our post office, we went to pick it up.

      Congrats on your EAD!

            Hi!!

            Thank you so much!

I tried to sign up for informed delivery but Usps won't let me because they cant verify my identity on the website. I will have to ask to hold my mail in person like you did! Thank you again!

              You're welcome!

If USPS is unable to verify your identity (because your answer/s didn't match their record), choose the 'In-Person Verification' method instead (see photo). I went the in-person route after three failed attempts with the multiple questions lol! After you choose 'In-Person Verification', USPS will email you the instructions with barcode (this is important), what appropriate IDs to bring, and address of the nearest post office where you'll go to be verified in person. USPS will require you to bring an ID showing your US address that matches the address you entered in Informed Delivery. (When I signed up that time, I didn't yet have any ID showing my US address; no SS, no EAD, no GC, therefore, no ID lol.) What I had was my foreign passport, which wasn't on the list of appropriate IDs.

Let me share my experience when I did the In-Person verification:

So I asked my hubby to accompany me to the post office. First, I printed out the email with the barcode. I brought my foreign passport, our marriage certificate (I thought, just in case), and our joint lease agreement ('coz our address is on there); he brought his passport and all IDs showing our address. At the post office, they scanned the barcode, then asked for my ID. I said, 'I don't have a US ID yet, but I'm living with my husband who has all the IDs with our address'. Employee asked hubby if he resides at the same address, hubby said yes and gave his ID. Employee checked hubby's ID, but said, since it was my name registered online, they need an ID from me. I said, 'I'm currently going thru immigration process, so I only have my passport for now', and handed it to him. Eagle-eyed employee noticed the last name on my passport didn't match my hubby's last name. Lol. I explained, 'It's my maiden name, but I have our marriage certificate', so I brought it out and the lease agreement. He checked both docs, especially the lease document where it shows the registered address and both our names as tenants. Finally, employee was satisfied and verified me! Props to the guy for being so thorough, making sure Informed Delivery email digests are not sent to wrong persons.

Another option is to instead have your USC spouse register online. If he passes the online identity verification, then good! If unsuccessful online, choose In-Person verification. That way, USPS will ask for the USC's IDs, not yours.

If you and your spouse have a joint email address, use that email for Informed Delivery. It's good evidence of bona fide marriage. I had to create first a joint email (tip I got from USCFFS; thanks!) for me and my spouse (johnjane.doe @yahoo dotcom) before I registered in Informed Delivery and the USCIS trackers. Then added the joint email mailbox to our respective Yahoo Mail app on our phones. That way we see the alerts simultaneously.

I suggest you retry the online verification with your USC spouse's name; choose In-Person Verification, if online fails.

Once your Informed Delivery is active, adjust your settings to receive Text & Email Updates (see photo).

              Good luck!

Yes, the idea that you should visit their office on the day when your postcard arrives for sorting and further sending seems to me the most adequate and correct. It would be a great solution for you, that's for sure. In fact, it is really nice to work with such a delivery operator, because I have never had any delays or any penalties with them. And besides, I can track the location of my parcel using the website sendungsverfolgungpost.de . It's very comfortable and I feel at ease. I hope this information helped you.
