You don't need the actual card to start working. As long as the website shows that your case is approved, then you are authorized to work and the company should be able to confirm that you are eligible to start working. +/- a few days - it should not be a big deal to them, if they see that the website shows you are eligible to work.

Call USCIS in the presence of our employer/HR
Show your employer your case status on the egov site or DHS.

None of those show that you are authorized to work.

Being authorized to work is one thing , actually start working is another. How can an employer hire you without the proper documentation ? That?s my question.
You mentioned in part ?you don?t need an actual card to start working? okay.. so I am thinking one can obtain the number without actually having that card - getting excited like that?s a thing !?!

So while I get that an approval notice, online status updates etc can prove that your EAD is in the pipeline , I still don?t get how you can actually start working without having a SS card.

I think I understand your question better now. Several things:

                1. You are authorized to work on the day that USCIS approves your I-765.
                2. If you look at the documents that you can present for the I-9, https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/ac...able-documents, you will see that the EAD is a list A document; i.e., serves as proof of identity and eligibility to work. Therefore, you do not need to present a Social Security Card to work.
                3. You can give them your SSN later.
                4. Yes, you can call USCIS in the presence of HR or you can access the USCIS website in their presence. Most people will understand that the EAD is on its way. They won't get into trouble for allowing you to work - I don't think.

Your EAD shows the following numbers
USCIS# same as your A number but without the A. Category C09P Card #MSC189099099
                    Valid from = approval date I-765 07-31-18
                    Expires 07-30-19
                    That's exactly one year.

Sorry to jump here, but you are not eligible to work with your I797 approval notice. You will need your physical EAD card for the purposes of the I-9 form. Under the new rules, it is only those that are renewing their EAD cards with an I797 notice that are eligible to work.

Please see this AILA guidance with USCIS response to the question about I-797 approval notice for I-765 serving as evidence of employment authorization. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/...ember_2014.pdf

If I were you, I would wait those few days and show your employer the approval notice.

You will eventually get it. It happens before your case reaches the "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" stage.
