    • Hey everyone,

My interview is next week and I have this insignificant detail that bothers me.

So back in 2013 I got a red light ticket and paid for it. Didn't keep the record.

It was with my old car, old license plate, old license and was paid through my old bank.

I called the Sheriff's Office and the courthouse they couldn't locate my record and also my city stopped using the cameras since the last January.

When I filed the I485 I didn't mention since it was less then $500 but I was wondering during the interview when they ask me the question relating citations on I485, should I tell the story?

I am afraid it will elongate my process unnecessarily, what do you all think?

            • EAD still not mailed

My EAD was approved 11/15, I received the approval letters yesterday but the card is still not mailed. Status is Case Was Approved since 11/16. The approval letter says it cannot be used as proof of work authorization and my job starts on Monday, 11/26, so I was wondering what happens if my EAD card is not delivered by Monday? My employer participates in the eVerify but I do not have the SSN either. Any idea why the EAD is taking so long to produce?

If your job starts on Monday 11/26, that means that your employer has until Thursday 11/29 to fill out the I-9. I think you should have it by then.

E-verify takes a while to catch up. My husband got his EAD in early August and E-verify is still unable to verify for him. And that's fine, because he showed the EAD at work.

How about the SS card? Is it produced independently from the EAD so I could technically receive it before the EAD?

See my timeline. The card comes from the Social Security administration.

Well, I hope everything is alright with my EAD. It has been 4 business days since it went into production. I saw most people get it mailed after 2 days or so. I will keep waiting.

Federal employees have a crazy amount of vacation time. Everything slows down during the holidays. I do think that it should arrive by the 29th. You should be fine.

I checked myUSCIS and the I-765 status says On November 20, we mailed your new card. So yay! Generally, at least for me, myUSCIS always updated later and the DHS app was more accurate. Apparently this is not the case now because the DHS app still says Case Was Approved. I do not see any tracking number tho.

AWESOME! Keep in mind that status update does not mean it's in the hands of USPS. It means it has postage on it and it's in a box waiting for USPS to pick it up. The next update is "Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service". That update will contain your tracking number. You may get that one today. Don't know if there is any mail on Friday - doubt it. Or saturday? Either way, you will have it by 11/29. On Monday, you can just gently remind your employer that they have until 11/29 to fill out the I-9. I would have the I-797 with you. I don't think they will give you a hard time. You are authorized to work already.

AFAIK, USPS delivers on Friday and Saturday, especially if it's Priority Mail. I also have Informed Delivery so hopefully it will show up there too.

Side question: What happens if I do not receive the SS card by Monday/Thursday? Am I allowed to work without the SSN? The online I-9 on my employer's website does not let me proceed without inserting the SSN.

That, I don't know. They *may be able to fill out a paper I-9, OR they can wait until your SS card arrives. All you need to meet the documentation requirements of the I-9 is the EAD. That is a list A document. I am sure they will figure something out. They're not going to shut down the company because they waited to fill out the I-9. ICE is also not going to show up to check up on you, either. LOL, just let everything fall into place over the next few days. You're authorized to work. That's all that matters.

You could read through the employer's manual to verify employment. That way you will know if your employer is being fair and exhausting all the options available.
