You mentioned in part ?you don?t need an actual card to start working? okay.. so I am thinking one can obtain the number without actually having that card - getting excited like that?s a thing !?!
So while I get that an approval notice, online status updates etc can prove that your EAD is in the pipeline , I still don?t get how you can actually start working without having a SS card.C9 Spouse of USC

1. You are authorized to work on the day that USCIS approves your I-765.
2. If you look at the documents that you can present for the I-9, https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/ac...able-documents, you will see that the EAD is a list A document; i.e., serves as proof of identity and eligibility to work. Therefore, you do not need to present a Social Security Card to work.
3. You can give them your SSN later.
4. Yes, you can call USCIS in the presence of HR or you can access the USCIS website in their presence. Most people will understand that the EAD is on its way. They won't get into trouble for allowing you to work - I don't think.

My biometric appointment is on the 21st. Do I have to do anything (like calling to confirm appointments, submitting document online, etc) prior to the appointment? I have a main sponsor and a joint sponsor, do they both have to come in with me?
