Well it all depends if you are approved on the spot. I have seen people receiving the GC after 5-7 business days.

                    • Hey everyone, we just had out interview this morning and was approved on the spot (PD 9/18). I have found this forum to be immensely helpful for our green card process and would like to share my experience.

Firstly, I need to preface this by saying our experience is probably not like others. My husband is active duty military and the local USCIS office does military outreach on the base, which we have been making appointment every month, so the officers were already aware of our case. Specifically, we had already met the I/O twice over the last year or so before seeing that it was going to be her interviewing us morning, so she already recognized us. One of the supervisors were also keeping an eye out on our case.

Our local office was the nicest people, it was a really straightforward and pleasant interview.

On going on, we were sworn in, and then the IO started going through the paperworks, asking our names, asking me my husbands birthday, asking him the names of my parents and asking me the names of his parents. She asked my husband when we got married, and when my birthday was. We answered all of these. Then, she started going through the yes/no questions from the i485, and I said no to all of them. I just started a new job last week so she updated that info in my form too. She also asked me about the societies I was in which is one of the questions in the i-485 (I was in my university's dance society and debating society) and she told me she liked tap dance, and I said that I really wanted to learn lol.

After that, she asked to see my medical, which I showed, then we also said that we brought originals of everything if she wanted to see them. She asked to see our original birth certificates and marriage certificate. At this point my husband make some jokes and we all laughed along.

Then we went through the proof of bona fide marriage docs. We bought a TON of evidence (listed below). Firstly, we went through the photo album (I bought about 160 photos from our 3.5 years together, overseas travel and trips, photos with family, etc. etc.) we laughed and joked about some of them, the IO said she liked my dress in one of the photos, we chatted about Disneyworld (we went on a mini honeymoon there), Costco (We love Costco), our dog, our wedding (a civil ceremony), fun photoshoots we've done abroad, escape rooms (probably more, don't remember now).

The other proof docs we went through were (always create a table of contents, it is soooo useful):

                      1. EVIDENCE OF COHABITATION
Deed for House with both names
Lease for Apartment with both names
Delivered Mail Addressed to Both of Us

                      2. EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP
                      Marriage Certificate
                      My Military Dependent Card
Husbands GI bill transfer to me
                      Communication Logs
                      Social Media Logs
                      Veterinary Clinic Report
                      Costco Membership

                      3. EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL COMMINGLING
                      Joint Mobile Phone Bills
                      Joint Credit Card Statements
Joint Auto Insurance for 3 Vehicles
Pension and Life Insurance Beneficiary Information for eachother
                      1095-C Tax Form
Email to CPA to Begin Joint 2018 Filing

                      4. PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE
160 photos, organized by year into a photo album (makes it easier to flick through in the interview)

At the end of it, she said that she knew we had upcoming travel (I am flying overseas this Friday and had told the supervisor when he came on base that I had upcoming travel), so she approved us and gave me the temporary stamp. She said that we had loads of evidence (including all of these photos of us all over the world) and everything looked good. I already have my EAD and AP but it is always safer to travel with the green card. When I got home, I got the email saying that 'new card is in production'.

All in all, we had a good experience and applaud the local USCIS office for being so efficient. Good luck to everyone else, and happy to answer questions.

Actually I think you are right! Our IO didn't take away my EAD or AP but I read that in some interview experiences they do. I would assume that it isn't valid now anyway with me now having a green card, yes (because why would you need it?).
