  • Utah filers, lets share updates here

    Hi fellow Utahns,

I know there are at least a few of you here. Recently we've seen some activity in the Utah area so I figured I would start this to share updates.

Yesterday (9/25/2018) I received a text and email (along with an update to the egov.uscis.gov site) that an interview has been scheduled. My PD is July/August 2017.

I called USCIS to confirm my address on file and see if they could give me the date. She said she couldn't tell me the date but suggested that it was actually scheduled and not just in line to be scheduled. I'll update here again when I get the printed notice.
    Original PD: 07/10/2017
    RFE PD: 8/23/2017

    8/03/2017 - RFE Received
    8/23/2017 - Response to RFE
    10/12/2017 - EAD Mailed
3/15/2018 - I-485 Status "Case is ready to be scheduled"
    9/25/2018 - I-485 "Interview Was Scheduled"
    10/31/2018 - Interview Date

Congratulations! Well, you know the drill, right? You will find about 20 useful resources on this thread. https://www.immihelp.com/forum/showt...430#post582430

Remember that the longer that you've been married, the more evidence USCIS expects to see. Focus on providing concrete evidence of bona fide marriage. The term evidence of bona fide marriage is misleading and it sounds like you only need to provide evidence since the date of your marriage. That is not the case. You can submit evidence since the date you met; thereby showcasing the longevity of your relationship. You do not want USCIS to think that you met on Monday, got married on Tuesday and filed for AOS on Wednesday.

I strongly recommend getting an Advance Health care directive and a financial power of attorney. Notarize both. UPS has a notary public on site and charges less than 5 dollars per document.

    All the best,

    USCFFS

      Big Congrats!

Fellow Utahn here. Check out my signature. Looks like we both have the same date for "Ready to be schedule for an interview" on 3/15/2018. Hopefully that means that our interview is coming soon.

Mind if I ask what time of day they sent you the notification? I'm wondering if they have an automated system that sends out all notifications to everyone at the same time each day.

I imagine it is automated. I received the email notification at 9 AM and text at 9:01 AM. So far only egov.uscis is updated. The myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov site has not been updated.

Got notification last night that me EAD/AP renewal was received by USCIS. Should be getting the paper receipts soon so my husband can give to his employer as proof that he is still able to continue working. Good news but still waiting for the big notification of the interview. Fingers crossed!

Can you share your process info? When you filed and all of that?

Good for you getting it under a year! I don't know what the hold up for our interview is. They accepted ours on Sep 5th 2017!

Checking to see if there are any updates from Utah filers.

413 days since PD. Getting overly anxious...especially since others in Utah had later PD than us. I'm sure everything is fine. Just being impatient.

That is a long time. It might be worth making an Infopass appointment and politely ask the Immigration Services Officer if they can request your file to be sent from the NBC to the field Office. Just a thought.

I tried to send you a PM but you're obviously quite popular as your inbox is too full! haha

This is what I wrote below...

So you think 413 days is a bit too long to not hear anything? I went to the Infopass site and there aren't any available appointments so I'm not sure what to do. I don't even have the option to check anything past today's available appointments. Very weird.

I don't know what my other options are. Any suggestions?

Well fellow Utahns, this part of my journey is over!

My wife and I arrived for the interview 30 min early and waited probably 45 min - 1 hour to be called in.

The USCIS officer was really friendly. He explained what he would be doing and then first reviewed the I-130. He approved that, went through some of the evidence we had brought with. We gave him a folder with several "exhibts". Mostly he was just interested in the financials (bank statements, leases, car title, insurance, etc). We had submitted some things with the I-130 when we filed so he wasn't too worried about in any other affidavits we had obtained. He quickly flipped through photos from two photobooks and one album.

He then went on to the I-485 and went through all the yes/no questions. Verified names, dates, addresses, etc. Asked for an updated medical which we gave him.

                              Approved on the spot!

He also updated the computer system while we were sitting there and asked us to wait until all of that was confirmed in the system and accepted, just to make sure we were still there if any issues cropped up.

So within the next few weeks, I will be receiving my 2 year conditional greencard!

One of my take aways - make sure to submit appropriate evidence of bona fide marriage with the I-130. He basically said that he knew he'd be approving us before we walked in to the office. Even though we didn't have a lot of evidence that we filed with the I-130, it was the right type of evidence. The additions today of joint banking, car title, joint tax return, etc. just servered to strengthen his descision.

In total, 478 days from initial submission to approval.

Now the long wait for the I-751 application window...
