My wife and I arrived for the interview 30 min early and waited probably 45 min - 1 hour to be called in.

The USCIS officer was really friendly. He explained what he would be doing and then first reviewed the I-130. He approved that, went through some of the evidence we had brought with. We gave him a folder with several "exhibts". Mostly he was just interested in the financials (bank statements, leases, car title, insurance, etc). We had submitted some things with the I-130 when we filed so he wasn't too worried about in any other affidavits we had obtained. He quickly flipped through photos from two photobooks and one album.

He then went on to the I-485 and went through all the yes/no questions. Verified names, dates, addresses, etc. Asked for an updated medical which we gave him.

    Approved on the spot!

He also updated the computer system while we were sitting there and asked us to wait until all of that was confirmed in the system and accepted, just to make sure we were still there if any issues cropped up.

So within the next few weeks, I will be receiving my 2 year conditional greencard!

One of my take aways - make sure to submit appropriate evidence of bona fide marriage with the I-130. He basically said that he knew he'd be approving us before we walked in to the office. Even though we didn't have a lot of evidence that we filed with the I-130, it was the right type of evidence. The additions today of joint banking, car title, joint tax return, etc. just servered to strengthen his descision.

In total, 478 days from initial submission to approval.

Now the long wait for the I-751 application window...

    Big congratulations to you!

Did you ask him about my interview notice? haha

We didn't provide much with the application in the way of evidence of bona fide marriage because we didn't have a lot at the time. But we do now, so hopefully all will be fine. So he didn't ask a lot of questions outside of the standard 1-485 ones?

Yeah, not really. We had submitted a lease, joint car insurance (I think), affidavits, photos and one or two other things with the initial application. We married end April and filed early July the same year. So we didn't actually have a lot to prove bona fide marriage initially. But it was suggested that he was ready to approve us before he even met us based on what we did file. Just needed to go through the processes and look at any additional evidence that would strengthen the application.

      Defintely wasn't a scary thing.

I'm sure your application is not too far from scheduling. I mean, it took us over 430 days to get the appointment scheduled. Almost wish it had taken a few more months so that we could have got the 10year haha.

That's great! I plan on bringing a well organized folder with lots of evidence so I'm sure all will be ok. And we have tons of pictures and receipts from multiple vacations that should help as well.

Today marks 424 days. So maybe in the next couple weeks we will hear something. It's weird because I didn't get impatient until around the 1 year mark from PD. I wouldn't be so impatient but we are wanting to travel internationally and can't do that till we have his green card.

As USCFFS said, since you have AP you are able to travel internationally, however just keep in mind if you go internationally, you could he scheduled for the interview at the time that you are traveling. and that wouldn't be a good situation.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

We have AP, but it expires in early December. We have reapplied but I do not want to take ANY risks at all. We have waited this long and can wait a little longer for the GC.

And yes...we definitely take the interview into account. We don't plan any vacations that involve booking flights or hotels more than 3 weeks out. So that's another reason why we haven't set anything in stone for international travel. Much easier to plan a long weekend 3 weeks ahead of time than it is for out of country travel.

Gotcha. I just wanted to make sure that it is clear to other members that AP would allow them to re-enter the US after international travel just fine.

For sure. I wasn't exactly clear on my initial post regarding the international travel. We had intended to travel internationally during the waiting process but had a separate issue with getting his passport renewed. And being that he is from Venezuela and the country is a mess in so many ways, obtaining that wasn't quick or easy. We just got it renewed a few weeks ago and now his AP is expiring. Crappy luck.

                    Hello!
I am in Salt Lake County as well.
I started my process in mid-July, and the only thing I have done was the biometrics.
We got a letter requesting a new form for the affidavit of support because the one my husband used was expired (annoying because he printed it out
from theUSCIS website). I haven't received any updates whether they received the form or not (it was delivered because we have/had a tracking number).
Yesterday I got a refund fee check and my I485 status says that they issued me a refund, but that shouldn't interfere with the process.
I really want to receive my AP because I am still hoping we can visit my family this Christmas. I don't know why it's taking so long to get my EAD/AP.

did any of you who filed around May 2018 gone to the interview yet? I check the processing time this morning and it changed from last month, it was 10 to 18 months and now its 16 to 18 months, ahhhh its just getting longer, this is so frustrating. I want to see if they are overestimating this processing times, if you could share your experience that would be awesome and very appreciate it. thank you thank you

It seems like Salt Lake City Field Office is the slowest of them all.

Yes. It is very frustrating. I also filed last May and got EAD in September, but nothing since. I was thinking about waiting until the 1 year mark since it's so close and then schedule an infopass.
