  • Adjustment of status

    Hi everyone,

I got married in 2016 and did not get any form of documentation or adjustment of status. I later divorced after a year as our marriage was not working. I still do not have papers, is there a way I can get papers since I was married?. USCIS records show that I was married and divorced. Please help. Thanks

You can possibly receive some kind of benefits given your situation. However, You have provided too little of information for us to determine that . Please speak with an immigration attorney.

I agree with WaitedLongEnough, you might be eligible for some benefits, but should consult with an immigration attorney to determine such benefits. however at the same time just based on the very very small amount of information you've provided, it sounds like you got married and divorced before you ever got your Green Card or possibly even filed. which means you may be here without a valid visa. if this is the case you may have accrued unlawful presence, which means if you try to apply for benefits you will possibly be put into removal proceedings and risk being on either a 3/10 year ban.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
