  • New SSN without restriction?

I received my GC this week, will I get a new SSN without restrictions or do I need to update it at the social security office?
I'm sorry if this question has been answered in previous posts.

No problem. You will have to go to the SSA and show your green card to get the SS card without restrictions.

Many thanks to you UCFFS for all your advice and assistance.

Following all your tips our interview experience was good and we were well prepared.

Do you have any advice for preparing for the I-751?

You definitely picked the correct person to follow advice from
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

You're so welcome! Congratulations on your green card! Well done! And THANK YOU for your kind words. I am glad I was able to be of assistance.

Since you asked, I do have some pointers for the I-751. I created this thread a few days ago. https://www.immihelp.com/forum/showt...346#post582346 The first two posts depict screenshots of a Table of Contents for the I-751. Reading through it may seem like dejavu to you. That is the Table of Contents I used as a model for my AOS Table of Contents. That I-751 table earned the couple an interview waiver. The I-751 was approved at the Service Center. There was no interview and they got the 10 year green card by mail. In a nutshell, that's your guide for the I-751.

Make sure to read the directions. They actually want as many documents as you may have since the date of the marriage. Even if you had already submitted X, Y, Z for your AOS, you would still submit it AGAIN for your I-751. Remember that AOS is adjudicated at the field office. That's where that evidence stays. The I-751 is adjudicated at a Service Center. They will not have access to the evidence you submitted for AOS. Often times people make the mistake of not following those directions, and then they get a RFE, and then they get called for interview. See screenshot below for the I-751 instructions.

This link has great information - Tips to avoid the I-751 interview. https://citizenpath.com/avoiding-i-751-interview/ It also explains how every case is assigned a fraud level. It's very interesting.

Definitely! The mere fact that UCFFS puts together links and answers to threads to help others (like me) in their application process is a pure act of selflessness.
UCFFS made me to a TOC believer that I am today (hehe). I have to admit that the TOC was a lot of work for us. But we really spent time and dedication drafting it and putting it together. And we don't regret doing it rather than suffer the repercussion of being complacent.

Thank you so much! I plan to prepare for the I-751 as early as now and keep on adding evidences as the months go so I won't be scrambling at the last minute.

I can only send good wishes on your way for all that you do.
