  • Just checked my status on I485 and got "as of April 2 we scheduled your interview. PD 10/29/18. I'm adjusting from H1B, NYC filer moving to SC. I requested to have an interview in the SC office in my paperwork. Hopefully, they scheduled accordingly. I'm moving in less that 2 weeks, so I was going to update the address after. Still no EAD though. I called USCIS multiple times, just spoke with the officer yesterday. He said I should see some action on it soon, however, I'm still within "normal processing time".

    • I just got another "we're still working on your case, there's no update" email from USCIS. Seems like they just randomly send people these emails

      • Got notification that my case is ready to schedule for interview. I don't have high hopes that it will be scheduled any time soon given the long processing time (18-25 months) at my local field office (Houston, TX). At least our EAD/AP combo cards are on their way.

          • I am confused at how they calculate their processing times, on Monday, I checked I765 processing for National Benefits Center under c9 category, it said they are processing September 28, 2018 applications already. Today I just checked, it shows it reverted to September 6, 2018 for some reason. Now California Service Center processes November 8, 2018. For an AOS, my concurrent application appears to be all at NBC, so I was basing it off that, I was hoping they really progress through so that the i485 and i130 applications also move along, but it this regression in processing times appear so confusing now. I understand these times are estimates, as with the 5-7 months, when two days ago it showed 6.5-12 months. Anybody have their take on this? I have not had any update since Feb 26th when it said my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview.

This site provides applicants the ability to see an estimate of the time to completion from submission of USCIS forms based on its adjudication location and subtype.

Once your I-485 is ready to be scheduled for an interview, your case is sent from the NBC to your local field office. The processing times are posted there. Hopes this helps.

                  • If I'm being honest with you, USCIS is a black box! Who really knows the way cases are processed! For instance, just this morning I got a notification that my interview was scheduled, but just last night got a notified that my case was ready to be scheduled for an interview. I really doubt an interview was scheduled overnight. I think that the online system is screwed up. So at this point I don't know what to expect but this, have low expectations, and if things move along quickly, you'll be better off. My two cents...

                      Hey MexaTX,

Hope that this is a true notice of interview being scheduled for you! Would you mind sharing at which office your application was originally filed with? Was it TSC? Also, has your application been transferred to National Benefits Center at any point in time? Did you receive notices of though?

Virtually all AOS cases are processed at the NBC, along with I-765 and whatever else one applies for (I-131, etc.). Once the NBC finishes its review, the AOS is sent to the local field office to schedule an interview, and the I-765 in theory gets approved. My gut tells me that the online system is messed up, and sometimes it sends notifications that cases are ready for interview when they are not. Or it can be a thousand other things (maybe the priority date is recent, sky-high backlog at the local office, new staffers, who the heck knows...). Wish it wasn't so dang confusing... Hang in there!

Actually just investigated on this matter. It is correct that all AOS at some point in time will end up in NBC, however not all AOS applications are filed directly with NBC. The filing instruction depend on quite a few different factors, such as EB vs family based, I-140 concurrent vs nonconcurrent, I-140 premium vs regular. Since you did not file concurrently, your application went directly to NBC. In my case the instructions for filing specifically mention TSC, thus the case was originally filed with them, but eventually got transferred to NBC, where it needs to be after all the prelim processing.
Anyways this is good info to know. Best of luck to everyone!

Hello, Since both of us are October 2018 NYC filers and we both receive the courtesy letter I-693 at the same day. I would like to ask you if the letter you received has "1 of 3" at the bottom of the page if so was the number 3 crossed and handwritten the number 2 like mine.

                                Thank you,
