I’m just blessed that my husband has a good job and is able to support me. The damage on my self esteem hasn’t been good tho. Being a worker all my life. I really need to get this sorted in the next month as I need to go home. But I don’t think my sisters wedding counts as humanitarian issue.
I have a friend who expedited it based on the death certificate of a great aunt...you might be able to call and request infopass and then adjust...I personally think a wedding is more urgent that a funeral. Sorry to be cynical, but once the person is dead, you have your whole lifetime to pay a tribute.

My wife and I had to move to another state because her father fell and was hurt due to his Parkinsons disease and having balance issues. I contacted USCIS and asked them to expedite based on humanitarian and financial conditions. She really needed to take care of him and I needed to work to help with providing financial assistance during this time. USCIS sent me a letter saying they required more information and to fax it. I ended up faxing them the doctors reports for her father describing his illness and a letter from him and my wife saying they needed me to work to help financially so she could provide care.
I received no response from USCIS so after 30 days I made another inquiry and was transferred to a level two officer. He started another expedite request, I faxed over the documents again and never heard back about anything.
Another 30 days passed so I called USCIS and was this time told they have a huge backlog and if I dont hear back after expedite requests its up to the adjudicating officer and its most likely a no and they dont have to even notify me, basically he said stop calling and wait if you dont hear anything its been refused.

Last week I was at the "over normal processing times" dates so I contacted my congresswoman to ask if they can inquire for me to see whats happening and hopefully move things along. Five days later I saw USCIS had changed processing times again and added another month to the wait process.
I'm still yet to hear back from the congresswoman and once i do I will let you all know whats said.
my god that's terrible. If your situation doesn't qualify an expedition then mine probably won't. I submitted my first expedition request on 03/22 with reason being financial emergency since my husband lost his job, a got a receipt after a week but that was it, not a single word after that. Then earlier this month (May) I talked to a tier 2 officer and was told my I-765 has been on hold since 03/14 for an unknown reason so said officer helped me submit another expedition request from which I haven't heard a word from, not even a receipt.

So yeah, I don't think USCIS, or NBC in my case as well, take expedition requests as seriously as they should and they are also dragging their feed on regular EAD applications, it's sad that so many people's livelihood has to depend on such a system.

          • Has anyone done Medical Examinations yet? I called today to a few doctors following the indication of the USCIS office. And I was shocked with the prices I heard from $200 to $400 per person, regardless of the insurance you have. Plus vaccines which is going to be another bunch of dollars.

I was hoping to hear any tricks or best practices to not get my wallet slaughtered...

The prices change so much depending where you live. Around me, everyone is $391 and up but 1 at $300, most over $450. I don't think you could do the medical examination for much less than $200 anywhere. The lowest I have read is $175, but there is no way we can do the medical in another city because is not a 1 day deal, we have to visit the doctor at least 2 times in different days (my guess).

Depends on your insurance. You can check your coverage and then go through all covered procedures with your insurance before going to the USCIS doctor office.

What I did was taking all vaccinations (flu, MMR, etc) and only paid the USCIS doctor the fee of $150 for health examination and blood TB test (my insurance doesn't cover that procedure). It took me a couple of weeks to get this done but I saved around $300. If you are not in a hurry for your application, I think this is a good way to save money. I live near Oakland, CA.

I did mine and the urgent care I went to didn't take my husbands insurance. So I had to pay out of pocket which was $250 for everything. I did find someone who would do it for $150 but they wanted my previous vaccine information, which I couldn't get ahold of.

                        • Hey everyone, I received a notice from my congresswoman's office today after I asked them to make an inquiry as to why i765 is taking so long.

"Due to workload factors not related to your constituent’s cases, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing their Form I-765 and I-131 applications"

Basically its just a wait and be patient message but good to know nothing in my case is holding things up.

The thing is my wife had the TB test already done earlier this year. I'm wondering that if we bring proof of all the vaccinations (from my home country) and TB maybe we can save on all the other tests... hopefully
