  • ADVICE! Traveling back to states

    Hello friends.

I'm have a conditional green card since June this Year. I'm on vacation in my home country atm, should be leaving soon back to USA over Istanbul via Turkish Airlines.
I have a couple of problems tho.

    1. My passport is still in maiden name
    2. Green Card has my maiden plus married name
    3. I have marriage certificate with me with apostille which shows that i changed my name
    4. Soon I will have my national id with both surnames (I would do passport too but it wouldn't match my ticket)
    5. I did call Turkish Airlines and they told me at first it has to match but then they told me to bring marriage certificate with me

Are these enough of evidence why I have a name difference? And why I am unable to change passport right now? (Planning to do it next year in embassy in USA)

I would really apreciate some help and experiences with this problem and/or with this perticular airline. Thank you friends!

I think that is plenty. Kuddos for thinking ahead and being proactive. Better over-prepared than under-prepared.

Thank you! People are telling me not to overthink it, but I think you can never be too safe with documentation!

      Any other thoughts??

As long as you have proof showing why the names are mismatched, you are fine.

You know overthinking is a big part of my day job. LOL, I totally get where you are coming from. I do not see any gaps on your documentation. It all adds up. Once you arrive in the US, the CBP officer will likely ask you where you are returning from and your green card. Note that to enter the US you really only need your green card. Sometimes they do not even ask for your passport. It should be fine. Just make sure you line up in the queue for permanent residents.

          All the best,

Hope thats enough not to have any issues at poe thank you
