  • I485 was reopened after approval

    Hi,

I had my interview for AOS (EB2) on 19th of September. By the time of interview there was no visa available for my PD. Officer told me I will get my approval on 2nd week of October as my PD would become current.

    I got below notifications

    i485:

10/11/2018 - New Card Is Being Produced
    10/12/2018 - Case Was Approved
10/13/2018 - Case Was Reopened for Reconsideration
    10/15/2018 - Case Was Reopened

    i485J:

    10/12/2018 - Case Was Approved
10/15/2018 - Case Was Automatically Revoked

I am really confused on whats going on..... I have called L2 officers but they dont provide any info and saying I need to wait. I also got a notice that they will let me know if they need additional documents.......

Anyone knows anything about these statues and whats going on?

We are in the same situation. Within 24 hrs our case changed from gc processing, case approved to reopened for reconsideration.
Can you let us know if you got the letter from the uscis and what did they write in it the reason for reconsideration.
Our PD is not current too.

      Reopened

The letter/Notice did not ask for anything and there were no reason mentioned. it was exactly same as my online status!!!!

'we reopened your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC1890227891, and are reconsidering our earlier decision.'

I even got an info pass and talked to an officer. they said there is no RFE/document needed. we have just reopened the case and result might be anything. they said I just need to wait until I hear something back.

This is really frustrating. Its been 31 days since the initial approval for me.

Please let me know how urs is going on.

You may reach out to your US Senator(s) and/or Congressperson. Senators are typically more effective.

I have contacted the senator office yesterday with signing the document to follow up on my behalf. Lets see if that helps.

Any idea how long it would take for them to contact USCIS !?

It should be fairly soon. I contacted my congressman regarding my I-765 expedite process, and as soon as they got all my documents and forms, they reached out to USCIS the next day. They also received an automated reply from USCIS the same day, which they forwarded to me that said that "We received your inquiry regarding your constituent's case and will update you in the next 30 days". The guy who I was in touch with, at the congressman's office, told me that from his experience, USCIS typically takes an action within 5 to 10 days after the inquiry. I believe that after 14 days after I contacted the congressman's office, I had my EAD in my hand.

                  Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the details. Question: did you have to gather a complete copy of your AoS application for the congressman? Or just some specific parts?

I sent them all documents that I have previously sent for my EAD expedite request to USCIS: a cover letter explaining in detail my situation, official job offer letter, a copy from the company's VP saying why they need me to start my job ASAP, a copy of my Ph.D. degree showing that I have graduated, therefore lost my income, therefore putting me in "severe financial hardship" (I applied for expedite EAD so I needed to show I am in severe financial hardship). That's all I sent.

No Updates. I have done 1 info pass, 3 SRs ( 2 on i485 and 1 on supJ). they say nothing. not even asking for any documents !!!! my FO is Dallas.

Today someone told me he had interview on the same day in the same FO and today got his GC. his was not reopened though. Its been 85 days since my case got reopened.

I really dont know. Let me know if you hear anything back please.
