  • Interview done and approved- Dallas, Texas

    Hi Everyone,

Sharing my experience about my interview.

I had my interview on 10.24.2018 for adjustment of status, I had come on K1 visa in February 2017. We got immediately as soon as I came to the country. My husband(USC) did all the paperwork and we filled for adjustment of status after getting the marriage certificate. Here is our timeline

    02/2017: Got married
04/2017: Submitted the application for AOS
    06/2017: Bio-metrics done
08/2017: Got EAD and AP combo card (Got till 08/2018)
08/2017: Ready to be scheduled for interview
05/2018: Applied for renewal of EAD and AP card (had read in the forum that usually when you apply for renewal of your EAD you get notice for interview and it really happened with us)
09/2018: Got letter for interview for October 2018

The day of the interview we went there 30 minutes early as mentioned our was in the morning. After we went there we had to wait another 30 minutes and the IO called our name when we went up-to him he asked if anyone is going to join us(must have been referring to the lawyer) we said no cause my husband did all the paperwork we did not hire any lawyer.
We went to his office he made us take the oath and then asked few basic questions like our names, our date of birth, asked my husband how we met and where we met? and asked us when we got married? asked me my parents name and when I entered the US?
After that he asked me the yes no questions and then said everything looks good until then he did not ask any documents and then he asked do you guys have any documents for me. We gave him the medical and all the other documents which we had put together he complimented how the documents are organised (did not even open the medical in front of us and did not even go through the documents we submitted, we had submitted a lot documents when we filled for AOS). before letting us go he said everything looks good and I must be able to approve you guys by 2pm today and said you will receive your card in 2-3 weeks once approved and handed us a letter that we attended the interview.

We were with the IO for 15-20 minutes and after we came back home at 1.45pm we received a text saying case is updated and we checked online and it said new card is being produced.

Overall the interview went well. The IO was very nice and made few jokes.

This was such a long process but feels good that it is done in the end.

Good luck for everyone waiting for their interview.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am filing in Denver but we are looking at a probable move down to the North Texas area in the new year so will probably be changing address to the Dallas field office.

Help with I-765 under pending I-140

I have pending I-140 NIW. Now am applying for I-765, I-485 for EAD+AP. My wife had EAD as J2 visa status, her EAD application is pending now. What I can write in form I-765 now for pending NIW case:
          1) Permission to accept employment? or Renewal of my permission to accept employment?
          2) Have you previously filed Form I-765? (Do need to write yes and mention about EAD she has as J2 visa status)
          3) Her category will be same as mine (c) (9) ?

I still have not received my card yet. Last update was on 10.26.2018 that the card has been mailed and yesterday got a letter from USCIS confirming that my case is approved.
Will update once I receive the card.

Oh, they looked at your documents before, and most probably, because you have sent lots of documents when filed they "pre-approve you", IO had enough documents before seeing you to make preliminary decision.
When we filed i just attached a letter from Dr, that we are expecting, when we came in IO first ask for Birth Certificate for a baby, it was obvious she went though the file before the interview.

Again from story to story with approved GC same day or in a reasonable time couples had sent lots of documents to prove their bona fide marriage when filed. The interviews with "preloaded" applications go smooth and easy.

                  Thank you for sharing!

When I got my green card it was put in our mail box and we got a notification saying that the mail was delivered. My husband and I both work and it was delivered in the afternoon, so we did not have to sign anything.

Thanks for sharing. So I have a question. Did you get your renewed EAD card before your interview? I?m asking because my EAD expires 01/22/2019. Because I will have to renew my drivers license too which expires 1/22/2019. Did you also file from Dallas?
