Well my EAD was expiring in August 2018 I applied for the renewal in May 2018, I did not get the renewal EAD card but got a letter for interview in September. Yes I filed from Dallas and live in Dallas.
Also for the drivers license even when your EAD expires in based on the category you come under you get an automatic 180 day extension. My license expired when my EAD expired in august, my category falls under the automatic extension, based on that dmv gave me 1 year on my License.
