  • Ambiguous RFE for I-864. Do I need to change anything?

So I finally received the RFE in the mail. It's a pink paper and obviously very generic but I still want to make sure I understand this right. If anyone got the same RFE, please share what your response was. Excerpt from the RFE:

" You have submitted Form I-864 (...). The form has one of the following deficiencies:
    - Not signed by the sponsor
    - Missing pages
    - I-864 revision is no longer valid.

In order to process your application further, you will need to submit:
    - A completed and signed I-864 (revision date 03/06/2018) ...
    - copy of sponsor's most recent tax return
    - copy of the sponsor's supporting tax documents (W2, 1099, etc)."

Since they say "one of the following deficiencies" I can't really know what the issue was but whatever, doesn't matter now. I was expecting them to ask for a joint sponsor since my husband is self employed, but I guess this is not the case, right? If I get this correctly, I have to have my husband (sponsor) fill out a new I-864 making sure it is the current edition, sign it, and attach his most recent tax return and W2. Also, I will attach his self-employment financial documents as proof of current income. Is that all I should send in? Thanks.
RoC (I-751) Application, filed from Houston TX
10/24/2021 - USPS delivered the package in AZ
10/27/2021 - Text from USCIS with receipt number, check cashed. Assigned to the Texas Processing Center

INITIAL AOS from F-1, married to USC, filed in Seattle WA

09/24/2018 - Package delivered to PO Box (PD)
    10/22 - Early bio walk-in
11/15 - New card is being produced (I-765)
    11/26 - EAD combo & SS card
    01/13/2020 - Interview
01/23/2020 - Case Approved, Card Mailed.

Thanks for the reply. We downloaded the current edition, filled it out again and signed it. I attached the 2017 tax transcript from the IRS and the W2. The RFE doesn?t require anything else besides that, should I include some proof of income for this year or just leave it at what they asked for?

Also, as a side note: I looked over the documents I submitted initially (have copy of the exact packet) and (un)surprisingly enough, the I-864 was the correct edition, signed, and included all the pages. Hence I can only suspect that some pages got lost when the Lockbox assembled it again. Oh well, it happens.

If you put down a current income different than what shows on last year's tax return, I would submit proof of income. Pay stubs or official employment letter on letterhead. Also, it's not ~required~, but I would submit last 3 years tax transcripts, unless you think it would hurt you.

Please send them what they asked for. Also, send for the year they asked for! Don?t give them more than they ask for. Not saying it?s is an extremely bad idea but sometimes too much information is bad information!

I honestly have no idea what the issue was because the form was perfectly fine. I wasted 2 weeks with this RFE but whatever. Your status on the I-485 should say ?we received your response...?. Doesn?t it?
