Please see the link above. While all cases are unique, general questions like this can be found on Homeland Security website.

I know that, but I?m asking for specific cases because 4-6 months is a LARGE range

It might be a little faster if your I-485 is employment based. You could also try to expedite it if you have a set employment start date.

        All the best,

As I mentioned, all cases are unique. Your case will never , ever be the same as anyone else?s, so YES that 4-6 months window is vague, I get it. See my timeline. I am 205 days waiting. Some , get there?s in 3 months some never get theirs and get the green card before. Where you are the filing from also makes a difference. Your application base also makes a difference.

No one here works for immigration, if you want an exact answer for your exact situation I suggest that you call USCIS and ask to speak with an officer.

You can ask the question a million ways , you will get the same answer. Some people get their EAD in 3 months, 4 months, 5 months... you get the point ? Some cases goes outside normal processing time , like mine , and still wait 30 additional days and nothing. The range 4-6 months is vauge for a reason.

Hi, it took me 8 months to have status New card (EAD) being produced. I have the same, 765 based on 485. National Benefits Centre took 5 and a half months! to look at my application only to issue RFIE for something they already had - tax for 2017. Mail got lost, scheduled Infopass and so on. Like everybody said, it is individual. There are some people who in the same 8 months got to the green card interview. Some people got work permit two months after applying.
Some people had luck with expediting work permit, some didn't.
It is purely up to luck.
Fingers crossed you'll get yours soon.

Aww, that's nice I also keep my husband updated on everything I read on forums. And I am genuinely happy for everybody who got their green card, even when they filed several months after me as I know how it all depends on luck. And it brings me nearly to tears when there are people who have been waiting for more than year and they still don't have their date for interview. Or for example you, when there is a need to go back home to be with family, and I truly believe everything will work out for you as soon as possible. And also for everybody who is waiting.

I should probably use this sleeplessness to finish my CV so I can find a job
