I?d go ahead and send in forms I-765 (work authorization) and I-131 (travel document) at the same time. There is no additional fee and they can take a long time. Even if you don?t think you?ll need it to work or travel outside the country for the next 1.5-2 years, it?s nice to have the option in case something pops up.

      Thank you for the response.

The reason I am not apply for an EAD is because I have over a year left. There will be zero chance of me traveling with the travel document so no reason to apply.

If worst comes to worst, I should be able to apply for an EAD renewal later on.

How is the application looking? I have tchecked everything about a million times and I don?t see anything that I could be missing.

We didn?t send the medical in with the initial application. We got the courtesy letter a few months after. Once we got the interview notice, we had the medical done and brought it with us to the interview. Our interview was over a year later so the medical would have been expired. I am hearing that the medical is now good for 2 years but I?m not well versed in that rule change. I?m happy with the way we did it. No chance to waste money.
