I just recently found out that USCIS provides 2 tools for tracking your case status:
- www.uscis.gov (which I was always visiting), and
- www.myuscis.gov (the new discovery).
The latter one is being advertised on www.uscis.gov, so both feel like it's the same tool. However they are not the same: you have to register separate account on each of them, and the information you get about your case may differ significantly.
For example, on my I-140 case I have:
- RFE received (on www.uscis.gov)
- Approved (on www.myuscis.gov)
On I-485, I get:
- Card Mailed (www.uscis.gov)
- Interview Scheduled (www.myuscis.gov)
The results are different in the way that it's impossible to tell why one website has more recent information for one case but maintains outdated info for another. Your case may advance to a new state while it won't be reflected on either of the websites if you look at just one of them as a source of truth.
It is clear that if you want a clearest picture about your case you better use both tools. If the information matches on both, that's fine - but if either of them has more details on your case, you could benefit from that.
Just wanted to let you know. Good luck everyone!
