  • Travel outside US if approved but card not in hand

We have an employment based application in process. Interview taken place and application in retrograde as priority date was 1st April and our date is 21st April. Our PD has now become current and whilst we have advanced parole and can travel, I?m worried that if the status of our case changes to approved but we don?t physically have the green cards that we won?t be able to travel out if the US as planned to family at Christmas.

My question is : if you are approved but card isn?t mailed before you need to travel, can you still travel and re-enter on an EAD with advanced parole? I am only see Info regarding traveling while waiting for approval not traveling in between approval and having cards in hand.

    Thank you!

I don't understand your question, you said it was already approved but then it needs to get approved. Either way it takes 7-10 days to get the card.

When we had the interview we were told it all looked great and providing our PD was available we would receive our green cards. However the priority date was not current so the case was placed in retrograde.

Now I?m concerned the case will be approved this month prior to us flying out of the country. If it is approved but we don?t have the cards before we fly, can we still travel? Will we be able to get back in traveling on advanced parole if our status changes to show card has been issued before we fly but we don?t have the actual cards?!

I would call and ask. I have heard stories of people with cards, but an error on it, not being allowed to board the plane back into the US - I suggest you try posting on the EAD section not the AOS section https://www.immihelp.com/forum/forum...Advance-Parole

Advance Parole trumps everything I believe.
