  • Hiring a Lawyer + USCIC New Policyt

    Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing great. I have a quick question.

Do you think that, following the July USCIS ruling (no RFE) it is imperative to hire an attorney to navigate through the Marriage-Based Green Card process?

Is DIY in this case too risky? Please share your thoughts!

    Thank you!

I don?t think so. Unless you just ignore the instructions. While all the cover letters and info in this site are great resources, you should be downloading the most recent forms and instructions directly from the USCIS website. If you include everything the instructions ask for (go through it line by line), you shouldn?t run into any problems.

I should clarify what reading the instructions means. It does not mean reading the I-864 form and following lines on the form. It means READING THE SEPARATE PDF that is 17 pages long. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/...i-864instr.pdf Same for the I-130 instructions. They're 12 pages. It's a separate document from the actual form.

Make sure you read them and you will avoid an RFE. RFEs slow everyone down. They slow YOU down and they slow US down, because officers have to keep going back to cases that were carelessly, blithely, and poorly filed.
