  • Where do all of you get your info from?

    Dear Forum,

first of all, thanks to all of you for your posts...I feel like we are not alone.

I have a quick question for all of you. In so many threads I read about "status says this, status says that" (anything from Biometrics in review, to interview scheduled etc.). Where do you obtain this info? Whenever I go an check on our USCIS Case Status on their website, they only tell me that they replied to the very first application we sent in from back in September 2017 and that I should read the letter. "On August 29, 2017, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number xxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice."

    Is there something going wrong?

    Here is our status:
    i-130 (201 B INA Spouse of USC) received 08/29/2017
my husband (of 11 years + 2 kids together) very quickly was sent to biometrics, medical and received his work authorization and advanced parole. The combo card he received December 2017 (it just expired and is being renewed)

We have not heard a beep in 2018 and I am getting really scared, especially since nothing ever changes on the USCIS Case Status website.

Also, I read here that other's that filed after us already had their interview. Within 12 month from what I sometimes read. Is this because of location? We are in NY.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

For more detailed updates, you can create an account here:

    1. https://egov.uscis.gov/
    2. https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

One of them is the new site and the other is the old site. Which one is which? I have no idea but I do know that you get the most complete picture AVAILABLE of your case status if you have both. #1 is nice because it links to the USCIS Case Tracker app AND it shows you actions taken on your case that may not necessarily trigger a letter to go out or a full status update. But say that you place a Service Request to inquire on not receiving your interview notice. You will see when the request is assigned to an officer for response and also once the officer responds and finally, you will see "request completed".

    Hope this helps,

    USCFFS

Another thing you can do is check the USCIS website for the processing times on the I-485 application for your field office.
If your timeline is still within the range indicated, your case is probably just moving forward (slowly, I know)...

If your receipt date is before the case inquiry date you can make an inquiry with the USCIS about your case.

Not sure, maybe its your NY location or since your Husband was here in US for 11 years so lot of history or background check to be done?
I applied in MA, sent application around March, got EAD/AP in Sep, I-485 interview got done in Dec-2018.
        This all happened in 2018.
        Yours is from 2017.
Call them and ask or I guess try Infopass?
